- "My name is Raxa Binn. I train commandos here at Zephyr Base as well as wreak a little havoc on the Imperials when time permits. If you want to get on my good side you should do a little work for me. You could pick up a few credits and help the Alliance at the same time. Interested?"
- ―Raxa Binn, to a spacer
Raxa Binn was a female Zabrak commando trainer who served the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War. Stationed at Zephyr Base, a hidden Alliance outpost on the moon of Rori, Binn was responsible for preparing Rebel operatives and leading strikes against nearby Imperial forces. Exhibiting uncompromising leadership and a strict focus on operational security, she directed missions aimed at protecting the secrecy of Zephyr Base and disrupting Imperial patrols in the surrounding wilderness.
Biography
Zephyr Base trainer
Gungan liaison Booto Lubble expressed a deep fondness for Raxa Binn.
- "My be sweetin' on de commando trainer here, Raxa Binn. Shesa mooie-mooie! My tinkin' shesa likin' a necklace made of Empire rank cylinder tings."
- ―Booto Lubble, to a spacer
Raxa Binn was a female Zabrak who was present at Zephyr Base on Naboo's moon of Rori[1] by around 1 ABY.[3] There she served as a commando trainer who split her time between preparing operatives of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and striking at nearby Imperial patrols during the course of the Galactic Civil War.[1]
At Zephyr Base, Binn intersected with the work of the Gungan liaison Booto Lubble, who openly admired her and believed a gift would win her favor.[2]
Lubble organized two retrieval operations intended to furnish a necklace for Binn. The first component was the rank cylinder of Warrant Officer Luhin Jinnor, which Lubble specifically requested because its hue matched the color of Binn’s eyes. Lubble also recounted overhearing Binn remark that “every time I see that Gungan, I want a thermal detonator,” a cutting line he nonetheless interpreted as inspiration for a gift pendant. He therefore sought[2] a Merr-Sonn Class-A thermal detonator[4] carried by Captain Rohd Gostervek to complete the necklace. Each item was taken from personnel in Colonel Zarvold’s Imperial Army battalion on Rori. Lubble also claimed that Binn despised Zarvold, though he did not know the reason.[2]
Eliminating the squad leader
Alliance operatives cut down the stormtrooper squad leader and his patrol near Zephyr Base.
- "There is a group of Imperial stormtroopers that have been getting a little too close to this outpost for my liking. Their leader is a stormtrooper squad leader. I think he's the one who suspects something is going on. Next time he's on patrol, take him out. He'll have friends with him, so bring some people you can trust."
- ―Raxa Binn, to a spacer
One of Binn’s assignments from Zephyr Base involved the elimination of an Imperial stormtrooper squad leader who had begun patrolling dangerously close to the outpost. Believing the officer to be suspicious of Alliance activity in the area, she urged a Rebel-aligned spacer to intercept and kill him before the location of the base was compromised. The squad leader was accompanied by fellow stormtroopers,[1] up to three in total,[5] requiring a careful and coordinated attack. Binn suggested bringing along trusted friends for the attack, which culminated in violent firefight between the Imperial and Rebel forces. Upon the squad leader’s death, Binn expressed satisfaction with the outcome with a credit reward, and suggested she might have further tasks for the operative.[1]
Rescuing the Rebel Scout
The overdue Rebel scout, detained by Imperial forces
- "One of the outpost's scouts is overdue to check in and some stormtrooper commandos have been spotted in the vicinity of that patrol area. We think they may have captured our scout. Would you be willing to go handle the rescue?"
- ―Raxa Binn, to a spacer
Following the elimination of the stormtrooper squad leader, Raxa Binn assigned a more delicate task. One of Zephyr Base’s scouts had failed to report back, and Imperial storm commandos had been sighted near the patrol route. Binn feared the missing[1] male Human[6] scout had been captured and warned that the storm commandos were among the Empire’s best-trained and best-equipped troops. She urged the operative to carry heavy firepower and to bring along trusted allies.[1]
The scout had indeed been detained by Imperial forces, guarded closely by two stormtroopers.[6] Yet by the time Rebel operatives set out to find the scout, the captive had slipped free of confinement and fled into the Rori wilderness. When finally located, the shaken scout initially mistook the rescuers for Imperial lackeys before recognizing their allegiance.[1]
Escorted back to Zephyr Base without further resistance, the scout was safely reunited with Alliance forces. Binn praised the successful recovery, reassured that the secrecy of the outpost had been preserved, and told her operative that the mission proved they had the makings of a fine commando. She also provided a credit payout in recognition of their service.[1]
Assault on the Imperial mobile base
Rebel operatives destroy the Imperial mobile base.
- "I had some of our scouts check out why there's been so much action here recently. Those commandos were part of a larger mobile force looking for Alliance activity. I need someone who's willing to go and take out this mobile base. Are you interested or is it too much for you?"
"Won't it attract a lot of attention if they all go missing?"
"Not nearly so much as if they find this outpost. We can always relocate to keep them off our track once you've taken care of their base. Are you up to this or not?"
"Yes."
"You have two objectives: First, take out that base; second, leave no survivors. This isn't going to be easy. Get your team together and leave immediately. Good luck." - ―Raxa Binn and a spacer
Following the successful rescue of the captured scout, Raxa Binn escalated her campaign against the Imperial presence on Rori. Reconnaissance by her scouts revealed that the stormtrooper commandos previously encountered were only the vanguard of a much larger Imperial mobile force sweeping the region in search of Alliance activity. Determined to protect Zephyr Base from discovery, Binn ordered her operative to assemble a team, locate the enemy’s mobile base, and destroy it completely before it could threaten the outpost.[1]
Binn issued explicit instructions: the base was to be completely eliminated, and no Imperial survivors were to be left behind, lest they report the existence of Zephyr Base. She warned the operative of the difficulty of the mission and urged them to bring reliable backup.[1]
The team ultimately confronted a contingent of four storm commandos, engaging them in a fierce firefight before[1] demolishing the Imperial base.[7] In the fiery aftermath, one stormtrooper surrendered, raising their arms in a plea for mercy. However, Binn’s orders had been clear: leave no survivors. The trooper’s fate was sealed as one of the Rebels leveled their A280 blaster rifle at the unarmed Imperial.[8]
Raxa Binn's orders were clear: leave no survivors.
Upon returning to Zephyr Base, Binn praised the success of the operation and once again provided a credit reward. She remarked that with more soldiers of such skill, she could drive the Imperials off Rori entirely. The destruction of the mobile base secured the secrecy of the Alliance outpost and delivered a major blow to local Imperial operations. Still, Binn cautioned that the Rebels would need to lay low for a time to avoid drawing further Imperial attention, but hinted that more opportunities to strike back would come in the future.[1]
Personality and traits
- "Ooah, de rank cylinder tings for warrant officers bein' just de right color for matchin' Raxa Binn's eyes!"
- ―Booto Lubble, to a spacer
Raxa Binn was a fair-skinned female Zabrak with blue eyes, brown hair, and gray facial tattoos.[1] As a dedicated commando trainer at Zephyr Base, she balanced her time between preparing operatives of the Rebel Alliance and personally leading strikes against Imperial forces. Binn demonstrated a practical and direct demeanor, issuing her instructions with confidence and clarity. She was unflinching in the face of Imperial threats, describing missions in blunt, sometimes severe terms and emphasizing the importance of secrecy for the survival of the outpost.[1]
Her dialogue reflected a results-driven mindset. Binn had little patience for hesitation, openly criticizing those who lacked the resolve or strength to complete difficult tasks. When assigning dangerous operations, such as the destruction of the Imperial mobile base, she insisted on reliable allies and proper preparation, warning of the risks involved. Despite her stern approach, she acknowledged and rewarded success, praising skilled operatives and expressing that, with more soldiers of similar caliber, she could drive the Imperials from Rori entirely.[1]
Binn’s focus on operational security was evident in her orders to leave no Imperial survivors during high-stakes missions. She viewed the elimination of threats as essential to safeguarding Zephyr Base, even if such actions required harsh measures. While she occasionally encouraged operatives by offering credits and personal commendations, her priority was always the protection of her people and the continuation of the Alliance’s presence on Rori.[1]
Binn’s reputation among allies included more personal impressions. The Gungan liaison Booto Lubble spoke admiringly of her and undertook the creation of a necklace assembled from captured Imperial equipment as a gift. Binn’s feelings toward Lubble were not reciprocated. As related by Lubble, she once quipped that every time she saw him she wanted a thermal detonator—a joke he took literally when commissioning a detonator as the necklace’s pendant. In the same exchanges, Lubble stated that Binn hated Colonel Zarvold, although he did not know why.[2]
Equipment
- "There are always more Imperials that need to die."
- ―Raxa Binn, to a spacer
Raxa Binn wore an assortment of armor with multiple color tones. Her suit included a green padded armor chestplate and matching padded armor leggings, each contrasted against a blue underlay. For additional defense, she wore a pair of marine armor biceps, silver in appearance, which added extra protection to her upper arms. Completing her set were composite armor bracers and composite armor boots, both also silver.[1] She also possessed light Rebel weapons.[9]
Behind the scenes
- "I wish they'd stop sending me people who were all talk and no action."
- ―Raxa Binn, to players who refused to rescue the Rebel scout
Raxa Binn was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[10]
She was located at Zephyr Base on Rori, where she provided a series of three quests to Rebel-aligned players. These quests focused on safeguarding the outpost and disrupting local Imperial operations. The first quest involved eliminating an Imperial stormtrooper squad leader accompanied by two stormtrooper escorts before they could compromise the location of Zephyr Base. The second tasked players with rescuing a captured Rebel scout, though despite the quest dialogue suggesting otherwise, no enemies were actually encountered during the rescue. The final quest escalated the conflict, with players ordered to assault and destroy a mobile Imperial base comprising four storm commandos.[1]
Each quest rewarded players with credits and Rebel faction points. While the quests were possible for solo players, Binn’s dialogue strongly encouraged the formation of a team, so this article assumes that a group of operatives carried out the missions.[1]
The total rewards for completing Binn’s questline included 100 credits and 200 Rebel faction points for the strike on the stormtrooper patrol, 100 credits and 200 Rebel faction points for the rescue mission, and 200 credits and 200 Rebel faction points for the destruction of the Imperial mobile base.[1]
Binn also featured in the storyline of Booto Lubble, another non-player character at Zephyr Base. Lubble’s quests centered on his attempts to win her affection by commissioning a necklace made from captured Imperial equipment.[2]
Beyond the game, Binn’s quests were represented in the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game through the 2010 Threat of the Conqueror expansion. Several cards, such as Kill the Stormtrooper Leader, Rescue the Scout, Destroy the Imperial Base, and Leave No Survivors, featured original artwork inspired by the events of her questline, providing an expanded visual depiction of the conflict around Zephyr Base.[5][6][7][8]
