―Booto Lubble, to a spacer[1]

Zarvold was an Imperial colonel who lived during the time of the Galactic Civil War. The colonel commanded an Imperial Army battalion stationed on Naboo's moon of Rori, where Zarvold's forces regularly patrolled the wilderness in opposition to the Rebel Alliance presence at Zephyr Base.

Biography

During the time of the Galactic Civil War,[1] around 1 ABY,[2] Colonel Zarvold oversaw an Imperial Army battalion operating on Rori, a moon of Naboo. Zarvold's men carried standard-issue equipment,[1] including rank cylinders[3] and Merr-Sonn Class-A explosive devices.[4]

Imperial officers and various Imperial troopers of Zarvold's Imperial Army battalion came into conflict with operatives of the Alliance to Restore the Republic working out of Zephyr Base, particularly through the actions of the Gungan liaison Booto Lubble.[1]

In an attempt to court[1] the Zabrak[5] commando trainer Raxa Binn, Lubble directed a Rebel spacer to kill members of Zarvold’s command. Among the targets were Warrant Officer Luhin Jinnor, who carried a rank cylinder, and Captain Rohd Gostervek, who possessed a thermal detonator. Both were slain by Rebel-aligned operative, who returned the equipment to Lubble for use in a necklace intended as a gift to Binn.[1]

Personality and traits

According to Lubble, Raxa Binn harbored a strong hatred for Zarvold, though the reasons were not clear to him.[1]

Behind the scenes

Colonel Zarvold was first mentioned in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6] Zarvold did not appear as a direct non-player character, but was referenced through quest dialogue[1] and quest item descriptions[3][4] tied to Booto Lubble at Zephyr Base on Rori. Zarvold's subordinates, including Warrant Officer Luhin Jinnor and Captain Rohd Gostervek, appeared as quest targets for Rebel-aligned players.[1]

  2. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
