The Phelarion system was a star system in the Seswenna sector of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Western Reaches.[2] It fell within grid square M-18 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and contained Phelarion, a terrestrial astronomical object that was the site of an Imperial Academy. Following the death of Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin at the Battle of Yavin[3] in 0 BBY,[4] many of the wealthy elite of the Imperial capital, Coruscant, sent their children to the academy on Phelarion in the hope of claiming some of the honor attached to Tarkin's reputation and memory.[3] The system shared its name[1] with the Phelarion School, which was located on the planet Lothal.[5]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Phelarion system was mentioned in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[6] The Phelarion system originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it appeared in the 2006 novel Outbound Flight, which was written by Timothy Zahn.[7]
The system originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in the comic strip "Princess Leia, Imperial Servant," which was written by Russ Helm, illustrated by Russ Manning, and published by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate[8] between November 6 and December 31, 1979.[9] It was then first identified in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Fry and Daniel Wallace.[10]
