"You must've seen the entire galaxy."
"Almost."
"How was it?"
"Amazing. The sinking city of Kuratow, the Persaya cliffs. This galaxy suffers, but there is still beauty."
―Cal Kestis and Merrin — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

The Persaya cliffs were a rock formation[1] located in[3] the Inner Rim Persaya system.[2] While traveling the galaxy after separating from the crew of the luxury yacht Stinger Mantis at some point[1] between 12 BBY and 11 BBY,[4] the Nightsister Merrin visited the cliffs.[1] In 9 BBY,[5] she discussed her travels with her former crewmate Cal Kestis on the moon Jedha, mentioning the cliffs and the sinking city of Kuratow as beautiful and the traveling as amazing.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Persaya cliffs were mentioned in the 2023 Respawn Entertainment video game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.[1]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Persaya cliffs in relation to the Persaya system.
  4. StarWars.com Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on StarWars.com (backup link) dates Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which equates to 9 BBY per Star Wars: Timelines.. In Survivor, it is stated that the Stinger Mantis crew has been separated for several years, meaning the latest the separation could have taken place is 11 BBY. The crew has not yet separated during the events of Jedi: Battle Scars, which dates itself to a few years after Fallen Order, meaning the earliest the separation could have happened is 12 BBY.
