"I am oblivion. I am the everlasting nothing."
―Solitus[3]

Pab Solitus[4] was a Duros Sith Breaker who sought to unmake the galaxy. A former Jedi disillusioned with the Jedi Council, Solitus learned of a Force-henge on Dathomir and brought his apprentice, Bobarian Afol, there to access Forcehold, a dimension that contained the unused pieces of past galaxies. When Solitus revealed that he intended to use Forcehold for nefarious purposes, Afol cast Solitus into an inter-dimensional rift, trapping the Duros in Forcehold instead.

Within Forcehold, Solitus founded an empire, amassing long-lost artifacts and appointing Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Revan, and K-2SO as high-ranking officers. Using the knowledge of Darth Ki-Adi-Mundi, Solitus desired to eradicate the entire galaxy by unmaking it, achieving peace in the absence of creation. Using kyber crystals to focus his connection to the Force, Solitus lured the brothers Sig Greebling and Darth Devastator to Dathomir to exploit the balance of their shared bond, a Force dyad, opening a rift and escaping back into the galaxy.

Using his starship, the Oblivion Runner, Solitus obliterated Snow City before going to Canto Bight, home of the Jedi Council. Solitus fought the Council and imprisoned its members in Forcehold. He also encountered Afol, who assisted the Skywalker family in escaping before the Duros destroyed the planet.

As his rift grew larger, Solitus appeared to Greebling and Devastator in a vision. Greebling, Devastator, and Afol later attacked the Oblivion Runner and Solitus, who took Dev on as his new apprentice, placing the others in Forcehold. Solitus and Devastator then consumed the galaxy.

Biography

The rift

"Yes, the Force Hold is real. A secret realm full of discarded pieces of the past. A place where we can forever send the worst parts of our galaxy. Any who stand against me will be cast away. This galaxy will be…"
"I'm sorry, Master."
[Afol pushes Solitus into the rift]
"…mine— No! What have you done?"
―Solitus and Bobarian Afol[2]

A disciple of the Jedi Order, Solitus had a Padawan, Bobarian Afol. Solitus came to believe that the Jedi Council was preventing him from learning secrets about the Force and brought Afol to a Force-henge without their knowledge. When Afol questioned why they had not informed the Council, Solitus explained his frustration, producing a Sith holocron.[2]

Desiring to learn the way of the Sith Breakers, Solitus unmade one of the monoliths before him. Afol objected, but Solitus claimed that this was the moment he had trained his apprentice for, persuading him to assist. Solitus asked if Afol he was afraid, which the other Jedi denied, aiding the Duros in destroying and rebuilding the monolith, opening a rift.[2]

Solitus confirmed the existence of the Forcehold, a dimension that contained the pieces of previous realities, and revealed his intention to cast away the worst parts of the galaxy, including anyone who stood against him. As Solitus began to claim the galaxy was his, Afol reluctantly pushed his master into the rift, which sealed behind him.[2]

Imprisoned within Forcehold for eons, Solitus assembled a trove of ancient artifacts belonging to the Jedi and the Sith and formed his own empire. He designated Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Revan as his top commanders. Another one of his lieutenants was the KX-series security droid K-2SO, who he was aware had been reprogrammed as a "hero" in other versions of the galaxy.[2] The galaxy was later accidentally rebuilt by Afol, and eventually, nerf herder Sig Greebling.[5] Solitus used kyber crystals to focus his connection to the Force. This enabled him to create a rift that could allow him to escape from Forcehold and return to the galaxy, though it required a balance of the light and dark sides to activate.[2]

Darkest dreams

"You two were the key to my escape. Brothers, one light, one dark. I needed you to use your abilities here in this place, so I manipulated you from afar with dreams of what you desired most. For poor, tortured Dev, power beyond measure. For naïve Sig, your wayward brother. And how well my puppets danced for me."
"But why?"
"Force Builders, Sith Breakers, you're just little children with laser swords, playing a silly game that will never stop. Until now. It's time to put away childish things. Soon this galaxy will know peace. Endless night. An eternal dark age."
―Solitus and Sig Greebling[6]

Despite his confinement, Solitus was able to see into the dreams of Greebling and his brother, Darth Devastator. Devastator, tormented by his past, desired ultimate power, while Greebling most wanted to reunite with his brother. Solitus influenced the brothers' dreams to lure them to Dathomir; first Devastator, then Greebling in pursuit of him. Provoked into a fight by a misunderstanding, Solitus encouraged them from beyond the veil. Using their Force powers during the conflict, the brothers,[6] a Force dyad, unknowingly provided Solitus a perfect balance of Force energy.[2]

A rift formed, and Solitus emerged, to the confusion of Greebling, Devastator, and the also-present Afol, who had previously taken on the role of Greebling's master. Greebling questioned Solitus' identity, causing Solitus to mockingly asked Afol if he did not remember him. Afol provided that Solitus was his master but had betrayed the Jedi Order, surprised by his reappearance. Solitus explained to Greebling that Forcehold was a place beyond space and time, his prison, but Afol warned Greebling not to listen. Devastator wondered aloud about his visions, and Solitus revealed his oneiric manipulation to Dev and Greebling. He further elaborated to Greebling on his plans for peace by plunging the galaxy into an eternal dark age, which the young Jedi refused to help him with, igniting his lightsaber.[6]

Devastator allied himself with Greebling. Solitus bemoaned the stubbornness of youth, threatening his adversaries with a firsthand experience of Forcehold and, as the brothers charged, casually bound them in midair. The Duros then opened a rift to Forcehold and released the duo into it over Afol's outcries. Solitus offered to teach Afol new ways of torment, but his former apprentice was saved by the rancor-mounted Asajj Ventress of the Daysisters, the beast swiping at Solitus. Unconcerned by Afol's departure, Solitus declared that the galaxy's time had run out, summoning the Oblivion Runner.[6]

Course: Oblivion

"You cannot help but be exactly what you are. Like me. I've spent countless eons honing my powers, gathering strength in the lost secrets of the Force, all for this moment. The end of everything. Let the Dark Age begin."
―Solitus, to K-2SO[2]

Aboard the Oblivion Runner, Solitus stared out its viewport as the Lucrehulk emerged from hyperspace above Snow City. K-2SO entered the bridge and informed Solitus of the vessel's ready status. The Duros praised the enforcer as obedient and informed him of his heroic nature in other galaxies, a problem the droid agreed he did not have. Solitus considered that he found droids agreeable because, like himself, they could not deny their nature. Believing that his mastered abilities and studies of forgotten lore culminated in that moment, Solitus announced a new dark age, the beginning of the end. The Oblivion Runner opened a rift above Snow City, consuming its structures and inhabitants.[2]

As the Oblivion Runner emerged over Canto Bight, Solitus descended to the surface on a Single Trooper Aerial Platform, landing in front of the rebuilt galaxy's Jedi Council and Skywalker family. General Leia Organa asked Solitus his purpose, who replied that he intended to release them from their "childish existence." As Jannah and Yoda felt Solitus' power, General Grievous told him to return to the Lucrehulk before he became enraged, drawing his blasters and rushing the Duros. Solitus opened a rift, trapping Grievous in Forcehold, causing the rest of the Council to ignite their lightsabers. Dodging with ease, Solitus hurled Yoda, then the rest of the Jedi, into Forcehold, bar Sheev Palpatine and Jedi Vader.[2]

Palpatine instructed Vader and the Skywalkers to run and engaged Solitus. The Duros felt the duel to be pointless but constructed a chained lightsaber from the weapons of the fallen, considering such a contest of skill to be "quaint." Lunging, Palpatine scarred Solitus, who remarked on the injury. As the fight continued, Solitus was able to constrain Palpatine using the Force and pin him beneath his twin blades. Now beaten, Palpatine encouraged Solitus to finish him. The Duros opened a rift to Forcehold, banishing the Jedi Master before turning his attention to the Skywalkers.[2]

Solitus deemed the lineage an annoyance in any galaxy, but before he could confront them, Bobarian Afol arrived in the Dark Falcon to the rescue. As Afol created a platform to float the family up to the Falcon, Solitus used the Force to hold it in place until Greedo—Organa's fiancée—dived towards the Duros, sacrificing himself to ensure his in-laws' safety. Solitus threw Greedo into Forcehold and regarded Afol as a nuisance, asking if his betrayal had not been enough; Afol countered that Solitus left him no choice. Solitus then disassembled the Jedi Council's sandcrawler walker. Leaving Canto Bight behind, the Oblivion Runner subsequently opened a rift that unmade the world.[2]

Peace and quiet

"With every moment my rift grows larger. In a few hours, it will reach critical mass and the rest of the galaxy will collapse into it. The curtain will come down once and for all."
"We'll stop you."
"I suppose you'll try. But oblivion always wins in the end."
―Solitus and Sig Greebling[7]

On a throne aboard the Oblivion Runner, Solitus appeared to Greebling and Devastator. Welcoming the brothers, he admitted that he was watching, surprised by the ease of their escape from Forcehold. Solitus then told Devastator that he sensed promise in him, but that he lacked a teacher, the young man's greatest desire. Defending Dev, Greebling tried to empathize with Solitus, having been to Forcehold, but the Duros dismissed the stay as being far shorter than his own. Solitus claimed to have discovered power beyond imagination, intriguing Devastator; the power to unmake the galaxy.[7]

With the Oblivion Runner's rift growing larger, Solitus explained that in mere hours it would over overtake the galaxy, which would then collapse, ending existence. Greebling stood up to Solitus, who espoused that oblivion always won.[7]

Gaining the support of the Pirate Queen Padmé Amidala, Afol, Greebling, and Devastator assaulted the Oblivion Runner with a fleet of BB-wings, boarding Solitus' command ship. Dispatching K-2SO, the trio arrived and confronted Solitus. The Duros belittled his former Padawan, who appealed to the past, believing Solitus was among the best before his turn. Devastator demanded a fight, but Solitus dismissed him, deconstructing his throne and erecting a barrier neither Dev nor the Jedi could breach. Chuckling, Solitus claimed he was doing them a favor, as they would not miss the galaxy. Solitus trapped Greebling against a wall and goaded Devastator, who Afol refused to instruct, telling him to choose. Greebling freed himself and tried to break the barrier, but Solitus flung him into a breach in the Oblivion Runner's hull.[7]

Afol leapt up and over Solitus' barrier and struck at him, asking Dev for aid. Solitus discouraged this, pointing out Afol's hypocrisy for his refusal to give Devastator a chance at redemption. Greebling also cried out for help, about to be sucked into the vacuum of space. Solitus offered Devastator a chance to join him, telepathically reminding him of his desire for a master and promising him unlimited power. Dev struck at Afol, obeying Solitus, and repaired the hull, saving his brother. Solitus asked why; Devastator replied that he wanted him to suffer. Solitus welcomed his new apprentice with open arms and sent Greebling and Afol to Forcehold. Together, Solitus and Devastator expanded the rift, consuming the galaxy.[7]

Nothing lasts forever

"You disappoint me, Dev. You betray me not for power or glory or riches, but for love? I simply don't understand."
"Of course you don't. All you ever cared about was power. Power at the expense of friends. Of the people who loved you. People like me. But power for power's sake creates a void in your soul until there's nothing left. I'm sorry I sent you to Force Hold. I should have found another way. It's never too late to turn away from a dark path. For any of us. Come back to us, Master Solitus. Do it for your old student. For this galaxy. For yourself."
"I can see I have one last lesson to teach you, my old Padawan. Sometimes the old ways are best."
―Solitus and Bobarian Afol[3]

On a barren astronomical body, Solitus appreciated undisturbed silence from the balcony of his compound. Encouraging Dev, he reminded his apprentice that he had found the master he desperately sought. Devastator inquired what would become of those imprisoned in Forcehold; Solitus imagined it was unpleasant, responding that their stories were over.[3]

Greebling and the outcasts of Forcehold escaped by forming a Force myriad and were expelled through a rift on to the surface of Solitus' world. Questioning their freedom, Solitus was interrupted for instructions by K-2SO, whom he blasted out of annoyance. Channeling Force lightning, Solitus lashed out at the oncoming army, which constructed a dome to shield themselves. Solitus then launched K-2SO out to the battlefield before turning to Devastator to confirm that he would be able to destroy Greebling when the time came. Devastator answered in the affirmative.[3]

As the residents of Forcehold overwhelmed Solitus' droid army, Devastator questioned the loss. Solitus, however, had laid a greater trap, as K-2SO initiated Goliath protocol, the droids re-forming into a massive K-2SO and two enlarged droidekas. Afol and Greebling ran ahead of the fray, Afol declaring victory to Solitus. Solitus lectured the Jedi for their disobedience and the chaos they had brought to his solitude; Greebling admitted that he was amused by disrupting the Duros' plans, attributing his irrational confidence to Afol's teachings. Solitus ordered Devastator to destroy Greebling. Squaring up against the Jedi, Dev, despite Solitus' urging, turned on the Duros and blasted him through the ceiling.[3]

Solitus was approached by Greebling, Afol, and Devastator, and lectured his apprentice on his betrayal born out of love, something that Solitus found incomprehensible. Afol understood, denouncing Solitus as only interested in power, even at the expense of friends and loved ones like himself. The Jedi continued by saying that desiring power for power's sake ate away at one's soul. Afol apologized for damning Solitus to Forcehold; he should have found another way, as no one was beyond redemption. Afol pleaded with Solitus to reject the dark side for his student, for the galaxy, and for himself. Solitus, uninterested in Afol's words, made a floating platform and readied to fight, offering his Padawan a final lesson.[3]

Solitus fought the trio, who threw pieces of the compound's roof at the Duros. Afol attacked Solitus, but Solitus pushed him back and rebuilt the pieces into monoliths like the ones from the Force-henge, trying to crush his enemies. Solitus turned his focus to Devastator, then flung pieces at Greebling, who avoided the projectiles with instruction from Afol. Devastator tried to land a blow on Solitus, but was forced to evade another stream of pieces. Striking his sabers into the ground, Solitus unleashed a barrage of lightning that compelled Greebling backwards, then opened a rift behind him. Without Forcehold, destroyed by the abundance of things Solitus had sent there, the rift now led to total annihilation and began to consume the compound. Forming a barrier of pieces, Solitus created more rifts to intensify to process.[3]

Personality and traits

"We cannot close our minds to wisdom, no matter the source. The Sith Breakers have much to teach us."
"Master, this…this is wrong!"
"No. This is the moment I've been training you for, Bobarian Afol. I gave you everything. Now, give me this."
―Solitus and Bobarian Afol[2]

Solitus sought to unmake the galaxy for peace,[7] seeing creation as an annoyance.[3]

Powers and abilities

"I was gone long enough to learn things about the Force you couldn't imagine. Power beyond your wildest dreams."
"What kind of power?"
"The power to unmake this galaxy in one fell swoop."
―Solitus and Darth Devastator[7]

After his escape from Forcehold, Solitus was able to open rifts to the alternate dimension[6] from as small as a human male to as large as an entire planet.[2]. In addition He was capable of Force Lightning,[3] building and breaking things with the Force,[2] freezing someone's movement,[6] and was able to use telekinesis to surround himself with barrier of broken parts, turning it into a whirlwind spinning fast enough to stop a lightsaber from penetrating through it.[7] He was able to levitate with the Force.[2]

Equipment

"Now I shall teach you the ultimate secret of the Sith. The power to manipulate the dark side on a scale thought impossible. The galaxy can be turned upon itself, cast off into everlasting nothing."
"That sounds awful."
"Embrace your hatred, and none can stand before you."
―Darth Ki-Adi Mundi's holocron, and Sig Greebling's reaction[2]

Before his banishment, Solitus acquired a Sith holocron. The holocron, or another one like it also in Solitus' possession, contained a recording of Darth Ki-Adi-Mundi with instructions on how to unmake the galaxy. When Solitus escaped into the rebuilt galaxy, he brought with him the Oblivion Runner, a modified Lucrehulk-class battleship crewed by B1-series battle droids. The Duros also had access to B2-series super battle droids and Phase-III Dark Troopers.[2]
