- "Just a little more. Build, break, build break."
"That voice. It can't be. Sig, Dev, you have to stop before it's too late!" - ―Solitus encouraging Sig Greebling and Darth Devastor to continue Force building and Sith breaking so he can be released through a rift while Jedi Bob attempts to stop the brothers fight
Rift Control was an ability that allowed one to transport themselves, others, or things into Forcehold.[2]
Usage
- "By destroying Force Hold you've changed the nature of my power. These rifts now only provide total annihilation. Stare into the abyss and it stares back."
- ―Solitus explaining the changed effects of rift control after Forcehold's destruction
Forcehold; the dimension rift control can lead to.
Through using the Force, one could open and close rift's to Forcehold, a dimension beyond time and space[2] where pieces of past versions of the galaxy go to when they no longer fit the new version.[1] Once Forcehold was destroyed, rift control acted as a gateway into a black abyss of destruction.[3] The appearance of a rift was portal like with a glowing purple outline. Prior to Forcehold's destruction one could see into Forcehold through the rift.[2] After Forcehold's destruction all that could be seen through the rift was a black void.[3]
The only known users of this ability was Jedi Master Bobarian Afol's former master, Solitus,[2] Sig Greebling, and Darth Devastator.[1]
Darth Devastator speculated that Solitus had used Kyber Crystal's to focus his power and create the rift's, using Sig Greebling's Force building and Darth Dev's Sith breaking to balance the light side and the dark side, giving him enough power to allow Solitus to open a rift that returned him to the galaxy,[1] and presumably empowered him enough to gain mastery over the power. Sig and Darth Dev needed help to open a rift, such as when they both worked together and drew upon the power of Kyber Crystal's, and even together they struggled to hold it open.[1] On the other hand Solitus was a master of the power, able to effortlessly open and close small ones capable of fitting a living being or larger ones capable of breaking apart planets.[1] When given time to focus and meditate his power, Solitus was presumably capable of creating a galactic scale rift. However, he never got chance to complete this alone, before being disturbed by Bobarian Afol, Sig Greebling, and Darth Devastator. After their confrontation, Solitus recruited Darth Dev, and with his help he was capable of creating a galaxy wide rift.[4] After Solitus was lost into Forcehold's abyss of annihilation, everything he trapped in Forcehold was restored through newly opened rifts that closed once everything was restored.[3]
Rift's could be opened through places strong in the Force if one or many used the Force to build and break things. However, whether this can be done unintentionally is unknown, due to the fact that each example had someone trying to intentionally open a rift.[2][1]
