Operation Poltergeist was the last strike undertaken by the Republic Special Forces Division against its defectors led by Harron Tavus.

History

Prelude

After the Lieutenant who had taken command of the reformed Havoc Squad began hunting down and eliminating the defectors and their resources on Taris, Nar Shaddaa, Tatooine and Alderaan, Tavus recalled his remaining allies to the Harrower-class dreadnought Justice, but his transmissions were all intercepted by Special Forces. General Elin Garza, commander of the Special Forces Division, dispatched Havoc Squad to the Justice under the guise of answering Tavus' call. Their mission was to first disable the ship's hyperdrive, then proceed to the bridge and neutralize Tavus.[3]

The Mission

Upon boarding the ship, the Lieutenant and another Havoc member were met by an Imperial soldier Romm who bought into their story and let them go on their way. As they went through the ship, the Lieutenant committed various acts of sabotage, eventually ending up in the engine room. Wraith, one of the last Havoc traitors left aside from Tavus, approached the Lieutenant and expressed pleasure at the opportunity to kill them. However, she failed, and was herself killed. Successfully sabotaging the engines, the Lieutenant headed for the bridge.[3]

Upon reaching the bridge, Havoc confronted Tavus. Tavus, like Wraith, expressed pleasure at the opportunity to kill the Lieutenant. They fought, and the Lieutenant came out victorious. Wounded, Tavus expressed regret for his actions, acknowledging that he was responsible for his comrades' deaths by leading them to defect. Lowering his blaster, Tavus offered his services to the Republic, saying he could offer valuable intel, and the Lieutenant accepted. At that moment, Republic Special Forces boarded the ship and once the coast was clear, Garza came aboard. She cordially greeted Tavus, expressing relief that he finally decided to surrender. Tavus bemoaned that he lost everything he was fighting for, but Garza reminded that the citizens of the Republic were worth fighting for. She then turned to the Lieutenant and promoted them to the rank of Captain. Later, Tavus sent a message to Havoc leader, expressing his regret at all that had happened and thanking them for sparing him.[5]

The Old Republic — The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY.
