During the Cold War, a battle between the Republic-aligned Ezran pirates and Sith Empire took place in the Ezran system. Not protected by the Treaty of Coruscant, the pirates and smugglers became a target for the Empire after lending aid and asylum to a number of Republic operatives. Rallying all available naval forces, the Sith Empire launched an attack on the pirates' outpost in the Ezran system in order to destroy it and remove the Ezran pirates as a threat.[4]
The battle
A fleet of three Terminus-class destroyers had been assembled to attack the Ezran pirate outpost. Assisted by the Empire's Fury squadron and further starfighters, the Imperial capital ships engaged the pirates' Thranta-class corvettes. At least one was destroyed while the smaller Imperial attack craft began strafing the space station, damaging it severly. In the end the majority of the pirates' forces and installations were destroyed, resulting in a decisive Imperial victory.[4]

The Old Republic — The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY.
