A battle occurred in the Taspan system during the Cold War between the reconstituted Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic when Major Boro Fareed, a key military officer of the Republic, intended to defect to the Empire. His betrayal was discovered only minutes before he could meet up with his Imperial contacts. Scrambling their forces, the Republic fleet attempted to intercept Fareed before he could escape with his knowledge of the inner workings of the Republic military.

The battle

Arriving in the Taspan system, the Empire's Fury squadron escorted Fareed's shuttle, which was being hunted by the Republic fleet's starfighters and Thranta-class corvettes, destroying at least fourty of the former and damaging the latter, until it could be picked up by an Imperial destroyer that was hiding among the asteroids, where the Republic capital ships could not reach it.
