The Nora system was located in the Belshar sector of the Mid Rim Territories in grid square J-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It was the site of[3] the Cytocaves of Nora, where sentient beings were genetically engineered[2] at some point by 9 ABY.[4]

Behind the scenes

The Nora system was first mentioned in the 2023 reference book Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo and Emily Shkoukani.[5] It was then identified by name in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.[6]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for the Cytocaves of Nora in relation to the Nora system.
  4. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" and "Chapter 16: The Rescue" to 9 ABY. The events of Chapters 1 through 16 of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must therefore also take place in 9 ABY.
