- "I am the best hauler droid in town and you know that!"
- ―TRK-R
A E-B loader droid during the Imperial Era
Loader droids, loadlifters, or hauler droids were a type of industrial droids that were used to lift and unload heavy cargo.
History
The Imperial mining moon of Cynda had several loader droids. Count Denetrius Vidian made several changes to their subroutines in order to increase their productivity.[2]
The E-B load lifter was a model of loader droid.[3] TRK-R was a hauler droid that worked in a settlement on the ocean planet Serelia, using a landspeeder to deliver cargo from the dock. It claimed to be the best hauler droid in the settlement, despite the fact that it once failed to deliver a catch of fish from the resident Verla to the market before the fish began to spoil.[1]
A large amount of B2-series super battle droids were acquired by the Plazir-15's government and were repurposed for civilian duties, with a large number of them being used as loader droids.[4]
The Resistance made use of heavy loader droids as part of their crew on their base on D'Qar,[5] as well as on board their flagship, the Raddus.[6] One such loader droid was B-U4D, also known as "Buford".[7]
Behind the scenes
Loader droids were first mentioned in the novel A New Dawn[2] and the audiobook version,[8] which were both released on September 2, 2014.[9] Loader droids first appeared in the third episode of the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi television series,[10] which was released on June 1, 2022.[11]
