The Kitel Phard system was situated in the Atrisian Commonwealth sector of the Core Worlds[1] and the Interior.[2] It was located in grid square J-12 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and lay along the hyperspace route known as the Giju Run that connected it to the Deymasoll system of the Colonies.[5]
The system contained the terrestrial celestial body Atrisia,[3][4] which was governed by rulers known as Atrisian Emperors long before the armed conflict between the First Order and the Resistance[6] that began in[7] 34 ABY.[8] The Kitel Phard system also shared its name with the Kitel Phard dynasty, which, during the reign of the Galactic Empire, was associated with a style of expensive vases.[9] In 34 ABY,[10] several screens aboard Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser Halcyon displayed a partial map of the galaxy that indicated the position of the Kitel Phard system.[11]
Behind the scenes
The Kitel Phard system was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon on a galactic map in the 2016 StarWars.com article "Where in the Galaxy Are the Worlds of Star Wars: The Force Awakens?."[12] Its first in-universe appearance came in the form of being depicted on a map viewable in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive two-day roleplaying experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida[11] that opened to the public on March 1, 2022[13] and was launched for the final time on September 28, 2023.[14] The system was identified by name in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map article on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.[15]
The origins of the Kitel Phard system stretch back to the Imperial Sourcebook of the Star Wars Legends continuity.
The Star Wars Legends continuity counterpart of the Kitel Phard system, the Atrisi system, was introduced in the Imperial Sourcebook, a 1989 supplement written by Greg Gorden for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[16] The entry of the original StarWars.com Databank for the Galactic Empire, which was published at some point by June 24, 2001, subsequently introduced the alternate name "Atrisian system."[17]
In the Appendix section of Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry's 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas[18] and in the StarWars.com Online Companion to the book,[19] as well as on galactic maps included in The Essential Atlas[18] and the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, the Atrisi system was referred to by the name of[20] its principal planet,[21] Kitel Phard.[18] The Clone Wars: Act on Instinct, a webcomic authored by Pablo Hidalgo and released on StarWars.com[22] over the span of the 2009[23]–2010[24] second season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series,[23] featured the first appearance of the Atrisi system.[22]
