The Atrisian Emperor,[2] also referred to as the Emperor of Kitel Phard,[1] was the title of rulers who governed[2] the Core Worlds[3] celestial body[2] Atrisia[4] long before the armed conflict between the First Order and the Resistance[2] that began in[5] 34 ABY.[6] They shared their name with the Atrisian Basic language.[7] The name of the Praetorian Guard,[1] a personal bodyguard unit of mysterious origins[2] that was originally affiliated with the Imperial Remnants[1] and was active[8] by 9 ABY,[9] dated back to the reign of the 14th Atrisian Emperor.[2]

The title "Atrisian Emperor" was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Pablo Hidalgo's 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary.[10] The 2019 reference book Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition subsequently introduced the alternate name "Emperor of Kitel Phard."[11]

The title "Emperor of Atrisia" was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity via a mention in Greg Gorden's 1989 Imperial Sourcebook that was published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[12] In August 1997, the article "From the Files of Corellia Antilles," which was authored by Timothy O'Brien and published in fourteenth issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine, identified the title as the Atrisian Emperor.[13] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas featured the first illustration of an Atrisian Emperor—Uueg Tching—which was done by Chris Trevas.[14]

In addition, SWInsider "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three.
