- "Ooh! A flock of Karnis birds. I've never seen them in person—"
"Lys! Pay attention." - ―Lys Solay and Nash Durango
Karnis birds were a type of[1] chirping[4] bird[1] found on[2] the planet[4] Tenoo,[2] as well as its big moon[1] Dedoon.[5] The birds chittered, were green in color, had black eyes, and had a blue-and-orange pattern on their wings.[1] Around 233 BBY,[6] Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar and Lys Solay passed by a Karnis bird as they rode speeders on a Tenoo river, though Solay did not notice it.[2] Later, while practicing flying in a Jedi Vector starship on the big moon, Solay became distracted by a flock of the birds—she had never seen them in person prior to then. She would have crashed into a boulder had the pilot Nash Durango not warned her.[1]
Later around that year,[6] Brightstar, Solay, and the Jedi youngling Nubs watched a Karnis bird flock fly by while riding a train on Tenoo, commenting on the planet's natural beauty and wildlife creatures.[4] While pursuing the bounty hunter Ansen Strung, the three younglings traveled to the far side of a forest with Strung's sibling, Senna Strung, and flew alongside some of the birds as they rode on speeder bikes.[3]
