The Izvoshra were an elite cadre of Kaleesh warriors assembled and served as loyal bodyguards of the Kaleesh warlord Qymaen jai Sheelal, the man who became Grievous, on their native homeworld of Kalee. The companions always accompanied him wherever he went, who had shared his past victories and love of battle.

Description

The Izvoshra[3] were an elite group of[1] Kaleesh[2] warriors and bodyguards who were always with their military leader, Grievous.[4]

Over the years,[2] the Izvoshra,[3] Kalee's best warriors,[2] traveled[1] and fought under their military leader,[2] Qymaen jai Sheelal,[4] now known as Grievous,[3] and now assembled together[5] as his elite[6] bodyguard, each a khan in command of their own troops.[5] The Kaleesh forces were led in a ruthless[7] all-out war against the Yam'rii with Grievous's increased ferocity and determination while on the offensive. In time, the Kaleesh expelled the Yam'rii from their world[2] and launched numerous disastrous campaigns on the desolate planet Huk.[6] However, their enemies unexpectedly requested assistance from the Galactic Republic. As a result, the Republic and the Jedi intervened and sided with the Yam'rii, which led hundreds of thousands of Kaleesh to starve to death.[2]

When Grievous joined the InterGalactic Banking Clan as an enforcer,[3] the Izvoshra were banned from joining him;[2] he demanded that they join him, but Grievous's request was rejected[3] and they were instead replaced by the IGBC's army.[2] Grievous then demanded for a more intelligent bodyguard, which resulted in Count Dooku, an ally of the IGBC, to commission the creation of the IG-100 MagnaGuard combat droids.[3] Grievous was a force to be reckoned with in his activities, and he quickly established himself as one of the IGBC's most valuable assets. By that time, his deeds had attracted the attention of both Count Dooku and his Sith Master Darth Sidious, whom had important plans for him.[2] Eventually, their warlord leader was fatally injured in a shuttle crash that almost ended his life[8], and he was offered a life-saving surgery.[9]

After he received his cybernetic enhancements[10] and became the General of the Droid Armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems,[11] Grievous replaced his elite group[4] of warriors[1] and bodyguards with the droid warrior IG-100 MagnaGuards, who would carry out his commands even more unquestionably than his prior band of followers,[4] and personally trained them[6] in everything he knew.[3] Much like his facemask acknowledged his Kaleesh warrior past,[12] he ordered the MagnaGuards[3] who worked with him to wear cloaks[13] and half-hoods[3] with mumuu markings,[1] in respect to his original devoted Izvoshra bodyguards,[3] and also harked back to the general's homeworld's traditions.[13]
