Biography
- "We ain't alone here, new blood. I heard the Khepi left a host of droids deep in the rock, guarding against anyone fool enough to set foot in their tomb."
- ―Ibess the Qua to Kay Vess who was disguised as a fellow raider
Ibess the Qua was a Mirialan who had joined the Rokana Raiders pirate group[1] before 3 ABY.[2] Ibess was part of the pirate group before Stinger Tash was elected as its leader. He voted for Tash because he loved her story about how she became a pirate. At least once, Ibess threw a mug of squelt at a fellow raider because he did not hear a good story, prompting the raider to send a message to other members of the raiders requesting they come up with some good stories when they go to the tavern. A copy of the message was left on a datapad at the pirate's base in the Khepi Tomb in the Sayma Nebula.[1]
In 3 ABY,[2] Ibess the Qua was part of a group of at least five raiders that boarded an EML-850 light freighter they disabled near their base in the Sayma Nebula. While aboard the Trailblazer Ibess stopped Tash from killing Kay Vess, the captain of the ship, by winning a vote that they check if Vess had any bounties first. Vess later escaped from the pirate base with a fellow prisoner Hondo Ohnaka. The pair later returned with Vess disguised as a Rokana Raider with Ohnaka pretending to be a captive.[1]
While disguised, Vess visited the base's tavern where she spoke with Ibess who insisted that she tell him a story. Afterward Ibess told Vess about the Khepi guardian droids rumored to be guarding the tomb they made their base while Tash searched for a way to access the treasure.[1]
Later that day, Tash successfully broke into the tomb's burial chamber. When Ibess and several other raiders joined her there, Ohnaka was there with a piece of the Architect's Scepter, an artifact required to access the treasure. After initially threatening to smash the section to pieces, Ohnaka proceeded to challenged Tash for leadership of the raiders. Vess, still disguise as a raider spoke for Ohnaka before the group put it up for a vote.[1]
While speaking for Ohnaka, Vess had the opportunity to emphasis Ohnaka's story in an effort to win Ibess's vote for Hondo. After the vote, disaster struck which resulted in activation of the tomb's sentry droids killing many of the raiders and causing the rest to flee the base.[1]
Personality and traits
- "That was a load of mud-yak swill! isn't there anyone on this rock who knows how to tell a story?"
- ―Ibess the Qua

Ibess the Qua was a Mirialan with green skin, brown eyes and white hair. He had Mirialan tattoos consisting of a series of diamonds that ran from his lips to his chin. He loved hearing beings tell stories and even valued them high enough to guide him when voting for the captain of the Rokana Raiders.[1]
Equipment
While he was a member of the Rokana Raiders he wore a purple vest over a purple shirt and blue pants with a grey triple wrapped belt. His vest bore the Raiders' icon and he wore a necklace.[1]
Behind the scenes
Ibess the Qua appeared in the "A Pirate's Fortune" expansion for the Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws, which released on May 15, 2025.[3] During the "Dead Man's Tales" mission players have the option to speak with Ibess while in the tavern though this interaction is entirely optional. If they do speak with him they will have up to four options to pick from for a story to tell. The options are: "The Shipwreck" which details Vess exploring the Castellan on Toshara, "The Rancor" which details Vess escaping from Pateesa on Tatooine, "The Commando Droid" which details Vess's escape from ND-5 while aboard the Revelator and "The Pirate Queen" which details her taking on Procyon Wy. The Pirate Queen option will only be available if the player had done syndicate quest titled the "Passenger". During the vote for leadership there are three possible outcomes depending on the players action: Tash wins and activates the sentry droids, Ohnaka wins and activates the sentry droids, or Ohnaka wins and Tash overloads the base's generator causing nebula gasses to flood the base. With each of the outcomes, Ibess is not shown to have died making his fate currently unknown.[1]
