- "There's one tale I think will intrigue you, one that dates back to the Clone Wars, back when my own people joined the ranks of Count Dooku's Separatists…"
- ―Vaclav
The Hassarians were a species of the galaxy with willowy physiques, lilac hair, and long snouts. As of the High Republic Era, the species had a centuries-long rivalry with the Skembo.[1] During the later period of the Republic Era, the Hassarians joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[3]
Hassarians in the galaxy
- "I was promised protection when I was brought here. There are Hassarians in the medcenter. I have seen them with my own eyes."
- ―Ceeril
During the High Republic Era, two Hassarians, injured in the Wazta emergence, were brought to the medcenter of the Starlight Beacon for treatment, with one suspended in a bacta tank and the other lying in a bone stabilizer when Administrator Velko Jahen arrived on the space station. The Skembo Ceeril, the Ambassador of Rion, was alarmed by the Hassarians' presence and demanded protection from them, staging an assassination attempt against himself with the use of Hassarian hair and DNA to try and get them removed. However, Jahen and KC-78 uncovered the truth, leading Ceeril to be placed in detention.[1]
Behind the scenes
Hassarians first canonically appeared in the short story "Starlight: First Duty" by Cavan Scott,[1] which was published in issues 201[4] and 202 of Star Wars Insider.[5] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, they were first mentioned in the novel Tyrant's Test.[6]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the Hassaria system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Hassarian species.
