The Great Hall[2] was a room within the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Leading in the Temple from the Processional Way,[3] the hall featured a wide raised walkway going through it and was lined with massive pillars and grand statues on it's lower levels, including one of a human[1] Jedi priestess[4] holding a book in one hand and a ball permanently floating above her other outstretched arm.[1] Another hall similar, but distinct from the Great Hall, also existed in the Temple.[5]
History
During her time as part of an Initiate clan, the Mirialan female Barriss Offee and her clan wandered through the high archways and manicured courtyards of the Great Hall, which Offee marveled at.[2] In 19 BBY,[6] Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic and secretly a Dark Lord of the Sith Sheev Palpatine, ordered the Grand Army of the Republic to eliminate all Jedi. Marching into the Temple under the leadership of former Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, the 501st Legion destroyed the Great Hall as they slaughtered the Jedi that occupied the Temple. Afterwards Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Grand Master Yoda infiltrated the Temple and saw multiple dead Younglings lying in the Great Hall.[1]
