Gondar were a species of tusked creatures. Their tusks were used to make Gondar tusk masks.[1]

Gondars themselves have never appeared, however their tusks first appeared though unidentified as part of Billy Dee Williams costume in the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.[2] It was first identified in the canon continuity in the junior novelization[3] and extended novelization[4] of the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story.[5]
The tusks were first identified as belonging to a Gondar in the Star Wars Legends continuity in "Taster's Choice: The Tale of Jabba's Chef",[6] a short story by Barbara Hambly which was published in Tales from Jabba's Palace in January 1996.[7]
