"This is just like Gentes, the Imperials will enslave us and send us away from one another! It's what they've done on a hundred other worlds!"
Lonaste[10]

Gentes was a planet[8] located in the Anoat system[4] in the Anoat sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories[1] that was the homeworld of the sentient Ugnaught species,[8] which fed on the native genteslugs.[7] Orbited by the moon Belsus,[5] Gentes was once home to many clans of Ugnaughts[11] until most of them were sold into slavery,[8] leaving few remaining by the time of the Iron Blockade.[11] During the blockade, enslavers raided the homes of some of the remaining Ugnaughts, driving them to hide in their homeworld's swamps and send out a distress signal offering supplies to any who would aid them.[6] One group of Ugnaughts wished to leave the planet and join the Alliance to Restore the Republic, so the Rebels made a quick evacuation of the new recruits.[12]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion of Star Wars: Uprising. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon.

A young smuggler responded to the Ugnaught's distress signal by sending a crew member to help them,[6] while also assisting the Rebels by defending their ship during the Ugnaughts' evacuation.[12]

Behind the scenes

Gentes was first mentioned in Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin, a 1989 Star Wars Legends supplement written by Jonatha Ariadne Caspian for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[13] It became canon when it was mentioned in the mobile game Star Wars: Uprising, which was developed by Kabam for iOS and Android platforms and released in 2015.[9]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 The game Star Wars: Uprising allows the player to send members of their crew from within the Anoat sector to Gentes during a point in the story where no ships can leave the sector due to the Iron Blockade. As such, Gentes must be located within the Anoat sector for the crew members to reach it.

  4. 4.0 4.1 A number of canon locations that originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity lack specific entries in the "Star Systems of the Galaxy" appendix, but in the Legends continuity were located in star systems that are listed in the appendix with a name different than that location, such as Vergesso Prime's location in the Lybeya system. Per Email from on July 31, 2025 — Used with permission, the appendix's author Jason Fry indicated that the canon locations should be considered to be located in the corresponding canon systems of the same name as the Legends system.
