- "A rebel insurgency group was arrested on Genassa for planning an attack on an Imperial envoy. The ISB reports the group was on their watchlist and that the arrest has caused major setbacks for the rebels."
- ―Dorna Parros reporting for HoloNet News
Genassa was a Mid Rim Territories celestial body. At some point by 3 ABY, a rebel insurgency group planned to attack an envoy of the Galactic Empire in Genassa's name. That year, however, the group was arrested on Genassa, a fact that was reported on by HoloNet News.
Description
Genassa was a terrestrial celestial body[4] located in the Genassa system of the M'shinni sector,[3] a part of Mid Rim Territories[1] and the New Territories.[2] It was also situated in grid square M-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid, and a hyperspace route linked it to[1] the Ottega system[5] as well as[6] the gas giant–type planet[7] Wynkahthu.[6]
History
- "Too late to back down now. But when we pull off this attack, we'll inspire ten more."
"I hope so."
"For Genassa."
"For Genassa." - ―A recording of two rebels
A recording of a conversation between two rebels mentioning Genassa was stored aboard Derosha Six (pictured).
At one point by 3 ABY,[8] a rebel insurgency group planned to carry out an attack on an envoy of the Galactic Empire that was to involve the blowing up of a shuttle. During a conversation between two of the rebels, one of them proclaimed that the attack would be "for Genassa," with the other rebel echoing the phrase. The conversation was overheard and recorded by an Imperial viper probe droid, with the recording becoming stored aboard[4] the Wild Space[9] Derosha Six space station of the Imperial Security Bureau. Subsequently, the rebel insurgency group was arrested on Genassa, a fact that the news anchor Dorna Parros relayed in a HoloNet News report[4] in 3 ABY.[8]
That year,[8] the thief Kay Vess accessed the viper probe droid's recording mentioning Genassa at a console while she was aboard Derosha Six.[4]
Behind the scenes
Genassa was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon on a galactic map in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a 2016 Fantasy Flight Games' roleplaying game boxed set.[1] The planet[10] Genassa was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity via mentions in the 1995 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Galaxy Guide 12: Aliens — Enemies and Allies, in an entry authored by Lisa Smedman.[11]
