Description
Garlic was a type of food edible by humans.[1] One variant of garlic included Silinese garlic.[3]
History
Galma Garlic Puffed Cheese Chips, which contained garlic
While on the planet Siline[3] in 134 BBY,[4] the human Lionine Graf used Silinese garlic, yellow chili oil, and tree onions to season their dish of grain and rislis eggs.[3] In 19 BBY,[5] the spy Chemish Runazha sought to report information to Imperial Intelligence about a plot to disrupt the upcoming Separatist Reintegration Day. While there, Runazha felt that one of the interviewers had sleeves that smelled of garlic.[6]
In 0 ABY,[7] when the human rebel operative Luke Skywalker was repairing the Desert Jewel, the starship of the cryptologist Drusil Bephorin, Bephorin brought him bowls of noodles in a broth made from peanuts and garlic. As Skywalker attempted to use the Force to lift his fork from the bowl, he could smell the garlic and peanuts of the broth. However, he became distracted by the yelling of the human Nakari Kelen and dropped the fork, spilling the broth all over himself.[1] In 34 ABY,[8] the snack foods Galma Garlic Puffed Cheese Chips and Sullust Garlic Chips, which contained garlic, were sold at Jat Kaa's Coolers in the settlement Black Spire Outpost on the world Batuu.[2]
Behind the scenes
Garlic first appeared in the current Star Wars canon in the 2015 novel Heir to the Jedi, authored by Kevin Hearne.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, garlic was first mentioned in "The Ice Princess!", a comic story released in the Ewoks Annual compilation, which was published by Marvel Comics[9] in August 1988.[10] It made its first appearance in "The Syrox Redemption," a short story written by Joe Schreiber and published in the 146th issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine,[11] which was released on December 10, 2013.[12] In the real world, garlic is a bulbous plant used in cooking.[13]

- ↑ The events of The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown take place in 134 BBY per the following reasoning. The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown establishes that Jecki Lon is the Padawan of Sol and Yord Fandar has yet to undertake his Jedi Trials. The novel also states that Lon has been Sol's Padawan for at least two years, as well as that Sol had not taken a Padawan for years after his former Padawan, Verosha Aniseya, left the Jedi Order. From this, at least four years have passed since Aniseya left the Order. "Lost / Found"—the events of which take place in 132 BBY per the reasoning here—establishes Aniseya left the Order six years before its events, equating to 138 BBY. The episode further states Fandar passed his Jedi Trials two years before its events, meaning he must have passed his Trials in 134 BBY.

Star Wars: Edge of the Abyss on Penguin Books' official United Kingdom website (backup link) establishes the events of Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear take place thirteen years before the events of Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss.
Rebecca Roanhorse (@rebeccaroanhorse) on Instagram (post): "Title and updated release date of my upcoming STAR WARS novel announced at SDCC. THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS takes place a year before Andor S1." (backup link) states that Edge of the Abyss takes place a year before the events of Andor Season 1, which are set in 5 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, the events of Edge of the Abyss must be set in 6 BBY, and the events of The Mask of Fear in 19 BBY.
