The Gallus system was located in the Allied Tion sector[4] of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Slice.[2] It was situated in grid square S-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and was a part of the Tion Cluster.[3] The system was home to[6] the sentient Gallusian species.[5]

Behind the scenes

The Gallus system was first mentioned on a map[1] designed by Christopher Ibbitt[7] that was created for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and given out as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim[8] on May 27, 2022[9] prior to the book's release during Celebration Europe[10] of April 7 through 10, 2023.[11] In keeping with the chicken-related theme of the[12] Gallusian[5] character Luleo Primoc,[12] the names of both his species[5] and the Gallus system[1] are derived from the name of the bird genus Gallus, which includes the chicken,[13] and ultimately the Latin word "gallus," meaning "rooster" or "cock."[14] The Gallus system was eventually fully identified by name in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map article on StarWars.com[4] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.[15]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the Gallus system as one such homeworld with regard to the Gallusian species.
