"Finish this creature so we can return to the Finalizer. You can give me your full report when we are off this mud hole."
―Phasma, to FN-2187 while on GUHL-J03870[2]

GUHL-J03870 was an Outer Rim Territories planet located in the Trilon sector. It had a rocky surface and was home to a type of six-limbed creature. At one point between 28 ABY and 34 ABY, the First Order Star Destroyer Finalizer visited the planet, with one of its troop transports bringing back from the surface one of the creatures as a stowaway. That led to a First Order stormtrooper squad being dispatched to GUHL-J03870, where they encountered multiple other members of the species, resulting in the unit departing the planet.

Description

"Why do we always have to land on mud planets?"
―FN-2187, while cleaning mud from a troop transport after its return from GUHL-J03870[2]

GUHL-J03870 was a planet[2] located in the GUHL-J03870 system of the Outer Rim Territories' Trilon sector. It was situated in grid square H-15 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The planet's surface, which appeared yellow and brown from space, featured mud and such terrain forms as cliffs and craters, including ones from which smoke billowed. GUHL-J03870 was home to a type of six-limbed furred creature.[2]

History

"There is something — a presence from the planet below — that does not belong here."
―Kylo Ren, while speaking to what he believes is Phasma aboard the Finalizer[2]

At some point between 28 ABY and 34 ABY,[3] the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Finalizer of the First Order visited GUHL-J03870, dispatching a troop transport to land on its surface, where some mud accumulated on the vehicle's hull. When the transport returned to the Finalizer, it did so with a stowaway in the form of one of the planet's native creatures. While the Star Destroyer was still in the planet's orbit, the creature, which had encountered the First Order stormtrooper FN-2187 in the starship's hangar, interfered while unseen with a meeting between[2] the First Order leader[4] Kylo Ren and several First Order officers. The Force-sensitive Ren sensed a foreign presence from GUHL-J03870 aboard the ship and subsequently ordered Captain Phasma to take a squad of stormtroopers and search for any signs of the Resistance on the planet.[2]

FN-2187, who was assigned to the squad, attempted to smuggle the creature back to GUHL-J03870 aboard the unit's troop transport. However, the creature snuck out and caused havoc on the planet's surface by activating the vessel's engines, which led to the out-of-control transport hurtling through the air and eventually crashing, leaving a prominent trench in the ground as it skidded to a stop. When Phasma ordered FN-2187 to execute the creature, the latter trooper instead noticed and pointed out the approach of multiple other hostile members of the same species. At that point, Phasma agreed that the landing party should leave GUHL-J03870—which[2] she[5] referred to as a "mud hole" and "rock"—without provoking the native lifeforms any further, adding that the First Order did not "belong" there.[2]

Behind the scenes

GUHL-J03870 appeared in "Pest Control," a comic story written by Landry Q. Walker, penciled by Eric Jones,[2] and published on October 18, 2017[6] as the lead story in the third issue of IDW Publishing's[2] 2017 Star Wars Adventures comic-book series.[7] Jason Fry,[8] co-author of the 2009 Star Wars Legends reference book The Essential Atlas[9] as well as "Star Systems of the Galaxy,"[10] an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[11] on June 24, 2025[10] that serves as a canon follow-up work to The Essential Atlas,[12] has stated that the star systems listed in the book's Appendix section are named after the most prominent planets or celestial bodies located in those systems.[8] This article therefore assumes that the capitalization of the name of the GUHL-J03870 system as presented in "Star Systems of the Galaxy"[1] also applies to the planet.[2]
