This page provides a yardstick for icons used in various citation templates, to ensure that they display in an proper fashion when used in index section such as Sources or External links, as well as in references, by ensuring the images and text align with 1:1 ratio images, don't cause additional gap between lines, and are formatted in a consistent way.

The standard image syntax is as follow:

• |baseline|x12px (for long image)
• |text-top|x16px
• |text-bottom|x18px
• |text-top|x14px (for template used mainly in references)

Note on parameter names, based on precedents, template names should follow a hierarchy based on function: Header templates > navigation templates > citation templates > web citation templates. Thus if we need to disambiguate between those template names for a similar topic, they must be named this way:
