This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion of the article below. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page or, if the page was deleted, in the Senate Hall rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was Redirect to Obi-Wan Kenobi. AnilSerifoglu (talk) 18:41, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Ulica Obi-Wana Kenobiego (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
While creating the TC for Midichloria mitochondrii, I checked the Star Wars culture category to see if similar case of species where listed there, but no... instead I discover this page, hidden there.
But then I realized, damn, this page as already quite the history of TCs. Created in 2005 by Imperialles, it was first TCed in 2009 (kept) and in 2012 along with "Star Wars streets in Las Vegas" before being removed from the vote. The Vegas page had a twin TC with the page in 2009 before finally being deleted following a vote in 2015. As it was noted during this last vote, the newly rewritten Notability of fan projects policy offered no protection to the page, however trying to TC Ulica Obi-Wana Kenobiego could not be done at the time, because it would requires a minimum of 32 participants to the vote to overturn the previous one from 2009, and this could simply realistically not be done at the time. Fast forward to 2022 when our Consensus policy was updated to limit the overturn rule to 2 years.
Now, I've read the arguments of previous TCs and the content of the page, and here's are my counterpoints:
- A street named after Star Wars isn't relevant to our mission, and is mostly relevant to fandom in general (thus should be rehosted to the Fanpedia)
- Naming a place in relation to SW isn't notable enough per our own fan projects policy, there is likely dozen of places with SW names, and we already deleted the only previous article of this kind (Vegas). There's also a street in Reykjavik. And Riffsyphon even found two drives (Yoda and Darth Maul) in North Carolina. And the Force know how many more are out there.
- Why stop at streets/places names? Ton of people are also named after Star Wars characters too... But I'm pretty sure we would all agree that they are not notable enough for an article.
- The street was recognized by Lucasfilm... maybe, since we don't have access to the document in question (only a blurry YouTube video) AND most importantly, this was not made through public channels (like a StarWars.com article...).
- It's a gathering point for polish fans and conventions. Sure, why not. But since we don't consider fan convention notables, why would we consider the street where they happen to be notable instead?
- What about the actors who have been there? Well, actors have been in a ton of fan conventions all over the world, so what? We don't even create articles on Comic Con where Lucasfilm itself organize actors presence, news conference, etc, so what would make this street more noticeable than the San Diego Comic Con?
Lastly, as previously said, the article can be moved and soft redirected to the Fanpedia, while a mention can be made on the Obi-Wan Kenobi page (the article currently isn't linked to from anywhere...).

- I almost want to vote keep but considering the sheer amount of things named after SW subjects, redirecting and dropping a mention in the relevant articles is the best way to go. OOM 224 (he/him) 18:38, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

- I assume we will merge all this info with Obi-Wan's page, correct? Still a reflection of the character's influence on popular culture. The "Meme culture" subsection can just be remained "Influence in popular culture" with a subsection for this and one for hello there Editoronthewiki (talk) 15:02, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Sure. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 17:24, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
