Sylar Saris' species (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
The episode guide for Bad Territory states "While sharing some similar characteristics to the praying mantis-like Yam'rii (first glimpsed in Star Wars: A New Hope), Sylar Saris is of a newly-created insectoid type thought perhaps to be a subspecies of the Yam'rii." While vague, this statement specifically avoids calling Saris a member of a new species and indeed suggests that he might be part of a subspecies of an existing species.
Having a page called Sylar "Saris's species" firmly implies that he is part of a separate species from the Yam'rii, which is not the case if he is indeed part of a subspecies. The page could argueably be moved to "Sylar Saris's type" but given the vagueness of the statement and the fact that this species/subspecies/type currently only includes a single character, meaning as an unidentified species it would not usually merit an article, I'd say it's best to cover this information in the BTS section of the Sylar Saris and Yam'rii pages, especially since it's also ambigious if the statement "thought perhaps to be a subspecies of the Yam'rii" is intended to be IU or OOU.

- I absolutely disagree with the notion that "this character is of a species not seen before" automatically makes that species notable enough to have an article on - there's a gazillion of one-shot species characters in Star Wars. And the rest of the available info is presented ambiguously enough that it'd be best at home in the BTS of the character's article. Imperators II(Talk) 09:22, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

Keep
- There is some BTS notability in that it says it was newly created for Sylar. While it would need moving to a better suited name, I think there's still grounds for keeping. The page itself can make note it was possibly a Yam'rii subspecies Lewisr (talk) 01:24, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- The Trivia gallery commentary on his species is enough to make it notable methinks Panther436 (talk) 01:47, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

- Potentially unique species, unique BTS info, and I disagree with the idea of nuking a page simply because its information can or happens to be covered on another article. SorcererSupreme21 (talk) 02:21, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

- Potentially unique bts info here. If that turns out not to be the case, we can revisit this later. Supreme Emperor Holocomm 16:00, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Per above, I would suggest the phrasing of "newly created" is enough to justify this page's existence, though a rename may be desirable KianJ (talk) 16:34, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

- Depends on the context in the reference book. Gven that the statement here is in the same sentence as the discussion of the species being created OOU I think it's unclear at best and if anything would say it was OOU. Ayrehead02 (talk) 00:53, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Changed the delete option to redirect to Sylar Saris as Imp pointed out that people still might search on it, plus avoids a redlink as per recent discussion. Ayrehead02 (talk) 09:23, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
