Hotelier (history - links - logs - delete - protect)

Real-world term with no apparent in-universe uniqueness. See Merriam-Webster and Wikipedia.

Keep

  1. It's got as much in-universe uniqueness as analysts, collectors, concubines, dishwashers, prostitutes, clerks, handmaidens, plumbers, puppeteers, tour guides (not to be confused with tour guide droids), and translators. For each of these, the Merriam-Webster argument would work, and yet we keep all. Why? I don't know, but I know what uniqueness there is about the hoteliers. [1] They are a subdivision of directors stripped of military connections, and [2] they occupy themselves with stuff that in real world would be relegated to other staff members, such as ordering clean-ups or welcoming guests. Earthly hoteliers are more of white-collars. @Mustafar29「talk」(he/him/his/hisself) 22:41, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
    • You are free to nominate any of those articles for deletion. The relevant policy is WP:DICT. From a quick glance, it appears many of those articles lack IU notability. However, this TC thread is not about those articles; it's about this one. Xd1358 (Talk) 22:51, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
      • The articles I linked were supposed to show Delete-enthusiasts that just because an earthly term appears in SW and is very similar to its earthly counterpart, it does not per se mean it's void of unearthly qualities. Yes, I know which article this TC is about; that's why I named two unearthly qualities of the SW hoteliers in the message. @Mustafar29「talk」(he/him/his/hisself) 11:43, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
    • I think most of these should probably just categories under occupation. The prostitute article also seems to violate the neutral point of view style guide. ThePedantry (talk) 06:23, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
