The general staff is a name that in real life is a group of army officers that form up an army command organization. The Galactic Empire's version exists at General Staff, to say that this article is unwarranted would be incorrect. I don't believe it's used as a colloquial term, and it provides insight into the command structure of the Republic army. It's not literally "general" staff of the military, it's an actual command group similar to the navy admiralty.--Vitus InfinitusTalk 07:33, February 29, 2020 (UTC)

  • The term "general staff" actually doesn't necessarily need to refer to anything more specific than some undefined group of officers. Please see the real-world application. It could be the Republic Army command structure, the Republic Navy command structure, some combination of the Republic Army and Navy command structures, a unit within the Republic Army, etc. In the cases of Imperial General Staff and General Staff, it would appear that those each provide specific context that allows us to pinpoint exactly what organizations they belong to. In the case of Hunter's quote, I don't believe we can pinpoint what he's referring to close enough to warrant an article. Despite what you've written in this page, we don't actually know that it applies explicitly and exclusively to the Republic Army. We know there were multiple branches of the Republic Military involved in the Anaxes campaign, so, as stated above, it really could refer to almost anything.
