Hello, March! I've been looking to revamp our Deletion policy for *check notes* 16 months now. Here's what I got: workbench permalink (diff)

The main goal here is for the "Deletion policy" to not just to be a list of rules but a guide that takes users through what they can do in requesting or contesting deletions. It would very briefly explain both the Trash compactor and the speedy deletion processes. Undeletion is also addressed. Plus, the page would double as a guide for admins in terms of setting the boundaries for both deletion and undeletion.

The one big addition to the policy I propose is to add a paragraph that formalises the use of our RevisionDelete feature—particularly since 2021, our bureaucrats have been using it carefully to hide the details of specific page revisions from the public eye for grossly inappropriate content, such as slurs.

  • Great work! I think you should mention that users can request the deletion of their own user subpages per WP:USER, there should also be a section saying that files could be undeleted by request if they are intended to be used.
