The result of the debate was Support proposal. —spookywillowwtalk 17:10, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
Following up on Forum:SH:Replacing Template:Tc and in light of having more Forum:Trash compactor votes open lately, I'm bringing the proposal to fully update {{Tc}}, which is added to every page nominated for a TC vote. As brought up in the discussion, the current wording is insensitive and unprofessional, and particularly discouraging to new or otherwise not-very-active editors.

- Wouldn't be opposed to adding the "What's this?" quote discussed too but that can always be brought up again later.—spookywillowwtalk 17:05, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
- I do think we could still use a quote for it, just not the current one. Bonzane10

- While I would admittedly prefer that it be a toggle that can be used for sensitive topics, I am not opposed to the revision of the template wholesale, especially if there is a prospect of changing it to another franchise quote. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 17:16, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
- Would support a different, more respectful quote (ie "What's this"), but this works in the interim. ThrawnChiss7

- I too would love a quote, but it's important to get the template changed asap and focus on a cute quote later. Master Fredcerique

- Think it would be good to mention somewhere on the template that the page might be deleted or redirected, but that can always be added in a future vote. Ayrehead02 (talk) 17:39, 16 March 2024 (UTC)

- I wouldn't oppose a different quote, but tbh I'm also fine with just not having one Zed42 (talk) 20:36, 16 March 2024 (UTC)

- I find it weird to replace "Trash Compactor" with the general "forums," since anyone can hover over or click on the link and see that the forum in question is the "Trash compactor," so censoring the name of the forum section comes across as misleading. Additionally, more context is needed in the template than just "future of Wookieepedia's coverage of this topic" as TC threads are about specific pages, not specifically general topics... those discussions are held in SH and CT threads, not TC. I also don't see how the current wording in the template is "insensitive and unprofessional"; a bit irreverent, maybe, if a page up to getting TC'd is about a sensitive subject, but even then that can be fixed with a simple toggle. The template is fine as is. SorcererSupreme21 (talk) 23:25, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
- The point of replacing "Trash compactor" with "forums" was to remove any reference to the article being "trash." It's still just a forum, so not sure how it's misleading. And TCs are not about specific pages. The votes and discussions had on TCs are very often about whether or not to merge content into another article, remove the article and not cover the topic anywhere else, redirect the page to another page, etc. It's definitely more about how Wookieepedia covers the topic overall than it is about how to treat a specific page. Also, a new user having their new article be referred to as "trash" and an "incredible smell" is absolutely unprofessional. It's a huge turn-off to new users just trying to help. Master Fredcerique
