A follow-up to Forum:SH:Raising the cap on active CANs

The status quo: So, the current system of Comprehensive article nominations limits all users to nominating a maximum of four (4) articles at any given time, per rule 9 under the How to nominate section of the linked page. This is in addition to rule 10, which stipulates that a user without any successful CANs may only have one CAN up at one time; one successful CAN raises the limit to two CANs; two to three; and three to four.

The proposal: With the recent increase of nominators as well as reviewers, CANs are passing at an unprecedented rate, while the standards for noms and the quality of newly passed status articles are continuing to improve. The ECs as well as the community at large thus agree that it's worth raising the limit. So, as a trial, we're starting off with raising the cap on active CANs from four to five, while maintaining the current system of increasing the limit for new nominators nom-by-nom: users must have nominated four successful CANs to be able to have five CANs put up at one time.

If it all goes well, the limit could increase further to six, and might spread to the other status article nomination processes (WP:GAN and WP:FAN) as well. Let's get the CAN rolling. Happy writing and reviewing!
