Alright, well I was hoping to let the recent Senate Hall I wrote about this to stew for slightly longer, but I think I've really gotten all the feedback I need to go ahead and push this now that Star Wars: Hunters is fresh on everyone's minds given the recent announcement that it will be shutting down in only a few months.
The following is a proposal for the first entry on our new pending Notability policy/Video game items page, with context for that found here. After months of refining what should and shouldn't be notable from the game's variety of cosmetics, we have boiled it down to the following brief notability policy:
"In-game cosmetic items should not receive articles of their own unless they are classified as "Costumes" or "Weapon Wraps" with Epic or Legendary rarity, AND at least one of the following criteria are met:
- Does not share an item description/quote with another item.
- Has a unique model from their associated character/weapon's base model.
→ See Insert this CT"
The above criteria would allow for the creation of articles for most "Epic" and "Legendary" rarity Costumes/Weapon Wraps, but almost no "Uncommon" or "Rare" tier ones.
It would seem the eventual plan is to create a "media specific index for in-game content" per Bonzane10, though that can be incorporated into the end of the policy at a later point if necessary, so for now we can just stick to archiving everything in Wookieepedia:Star Wars: Hunters screenshots behind-the-scenes.
Please share any additional feedback you may have, I explain my rationale behind this decision in the SH linked above based on the general community consensus I've witnessed since the game launched. See comments from Bonzane10, who has been an immense help throughout this process and has headed up our screenshotting efforts, for more context on answers to the questions I had posed at the end of said SH, such as how to make articles for Utooni's weapons and what to do about in-game replicas. The above criteria also allow for the creation of articles for each character's "Base" outfits, which would standardize what we've already done for things like Aran Tal's armor (which will need to be renamed to it's in-game name, "Clan Tal Warrior," at some point).
If this should pass with support, I will do everything I can to make sure these articles get made and previous articles are brought up to the current standardization. The screenshot archiving is already going nicely, we have a lot of involvement, and hopefully having access to the datamined asset Google Drive will also us to add high-quality asset images with the same crop/pose to individual article infoboxes as well. -MTrac1000 (talk) 18:01, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
