Some of you may remember the Multiple issues SH thread from earlier this year. Due to various Reasons, I forgot about it and a concrete proposal was never posted. Please refer to the SH thread for the background. For the template prototype, see User:Xd1358/test2.
Based on feedback, I've finally formulated a proposal:
- Layout Guide amendment
- Under Wookieepedia:Layout Guide#Maintenance templates, add a bullet point under the current first one that reads:
{{Multiple issues}} may be used instead on articles with two or more maintenance templates, if applicable. - Not all maintenance templates are included in the new template, hence the "if applicable". Refer to the SH thread for the reasoning. A list of included templates is found in the template documentation.
- Under Wookieepedia:Layout Guide#Maintenance templates, add a bullet point under the current first one that reads:
- Deprecation of current maintenance templates
- {{Doom}} serves no purpose and the new template can be used to elaborate which parts of the article need work. It's better than just calling the article in general garbage and helps editors fix the existing issues. Same goes for {{Overhaul}}.
- Articles using the two mentioned templates should be reviewed and the templates be switched to the new multiple issues template as applicable. This needs to be done manually and there's no real rush to do it.
- Once the two mentioned templates have been deprecated, they can be deleted without the need for a TC.

(talk) 18:52, 2 September 2021 (UTC) - Having too many maintenance templates on a page is a big problem for some articles, and I think that this will make reading those articles a better experience. VergenceScatter (talk) 18:53, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
