The result of the debate was Adopt proposed new image. Imperators II(Talk) 07:41, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
The purpose of an infobox image is to feature an image that best depicts the subject of the article. Typically that would mean using a live-action or realistic image, however there are some exceptions. Characters like The Grand Inquisitor, Synara San, Echo, and Kazuda Xiono all have more realistic depictions available, however the image determined to best represent their character is their animated depiction. In most of these cases, the realistic images look very different from how they were originally designed, and I think the Fifth Brother is in a similar situation. I suggest that we switch his page back to his original image, which had been the infobox from 2016 up until June.
Similar to The Grand Inquisitor, the Fifth Brother was created for Star Wars Rebels, which is the prominent, more well-known, chronologically latest appearances for both characters. However both characters appeared in live-action in Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which their designs were significantly changed. As The Grand Inquisitor was voted to keep his animated depiction, and because of how similar these situations are, it makes sense to be consistent with how we determine realism vs accuracy for an infobox. As for why I think the Rebels and Kenobi portrayals are different enough to warrant the change, when comparing the two depictions, they have very different body builds, eye color, skin color, facial structure and features. Unfortunately we haven't seen his species in live-action, so unlike The Grand Inquisitor we can't make a Pau'an comparison. However based on what we currently have, I'd say his design differs a lot more than how much The Grand Inquisitor was changed, so this isn't just a case of Rebels stylization. Most other animated-to-live-action characters have very few changes so it doesn't really matter if we use realism, but the Fifth Brother's change was substantial enough that they look like completely different characters. Keeping the image would also set a precedent to always use realism, even if it looks nothing like how the character first appeared, and the Rebels image better reflects how people know the character. Realism shouldn't be a definitive yes/no for an infobox. This may be a less realistic depiction, but it best depicts his character. Also, this may be more of a personal opinion, but I don't think the current image looks that great for an infobox. If this vote passes, I will find space in the article for the Obi-Wan Kenobi image.
To recap:
- Option 1 Is to keep the current live-action image from Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is the most realistic but deviates from his original appearance
- Option 2 Is to use the page's original image from Star Wars Rebels, which is less realistic but is his more recognizable original depiction

- The massive differences in facial structure/color is just so off-putting. I easily forgave the TGI's portrayal but I just don't know what happened here. I understand you can't have a perfectly triangular face, but the color, lines, and eyes are easily done but weren't. I am head-cannoning this species's face changes with age and Rebels is definitively the latest depiction. NBDani

- His facial features are not discernable in option 1. Also, option 2 would be better if the background was cut out. NanoLuukeCloning facility 13:55, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- There actually was a talk page discussion a while back where it was determined that a transparent background would be impossible due to the lightsaber blending into the background. Rsand 30 (talk) 14:04, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

- Rebels is also his chronologically latest appearance, and we do have some precedent for using less realistic images in those cases (Sabé, Kitster Banai, Jedha, etc) however those are cases where the character has visibly aged. While the Fifth Brother's appearance is very different, it seems speculatory to say he aged between these appearances so I decided to not to list it as a reason. Though it is still worth considering. - I mean, he definitely aged since that is later in time. I don’t know enough about the species to say if being older would alter his body visibly though. SaintSirNicholas (talk) 13:06, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Right, I'm not suggesting that he isn't older, I'm talking about distinct indications of aging (wrinkles, gray hair, etc) which are used to determine other infoboxes. Unlike humans, we don't know how his species ages, so I don't think there's enough evidence to say he visibly aged. Rsand 30 (talk) 14:08, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
