The result of the debate was do not assume the Unidentified Falleen mercenary character to be a Falleen. OOM 224 (he/him) 22:06, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
After some disagreement on Discord over an issue raised on the nomination of the article Unidentified Falleen mercenary (depicted on the right), I've been advised to put this matters to a vote:
Should Wookieepedia identifies this unnamed individual from Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Falleen?
Supportive arguments would have that the features of this character are distinctive (reptilian, green skin, pony tail) enough to allow for the abductive reasoning of the "duck test", despite the presence of details that are not distinctive of the Falleen species.
On the contrary, my arguments are that there is too many conflicting details for this character to be allowed to pass the "duck test", with the large scales, the absence of a noticeable cranial ridge and the presence of human-like outer ears on the Kenobi character as points of contention:
- Falleens have been introduced to Canon through The Clone Wars, with a distinctive look, albeit only depicting males: reptilian-like, green skin with small facial and cranial scales of a darker shade, pony tail, the absence of an human-like outer ear, and cranial ridges.
- The Fallenn article on the databank goes further into establishing the distinctive features of the species: "The Falleen are humanoid but with a distinct alien look, featuring green skin, ridged skulls, and long pony tails."
- The only two Falleen female depicted in Canon (to my knowledge), Xet and U'il, don't deviate from the established look.
- The Bad Batch featured a (female?) Falleen child, also featuring the same general design.

On an additional note, Falleen in Legends have on occasion been depicted with visible human-like outer ears, see Zule Xiss (yes, not a Zeltron...), Kamlin's sister and Xora. Interestingly, those are all by artist Brian Ching, and all look like humans with green (or red...) skin... This goes without saying, but Legends depiction are not relevant to the discussion.
In conclusion, I think that we should only keep strictly to what we know of this character: it's reptilian-like. I'm not saying it could never be identified as a Falleen, as future documentation may shed more light on the matters, but as for now, with what is available to us, assuming the species would be detrimental to our work, as it would be nothing else but an attempt at continuity mending on our part.

- Kenobi AD just calls the character a green-skinned alien, which is more true to what we know. The scales, as well, don't really seem to align with the presented typical Falleens.—spookywillowwtalk 14:51, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

- Don't see any need for us to make assumptions on this one given the ears. If it is a Falleen I'm sure a source will confirm it eventually. Ayrehead02 (talk) 15:01, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

- While Kenobi doesn't have the best track record with inaccurate alien designs, for now I'd say wait for further confirmation before saying the character is a Falleen. Rsand 30 (talk) 19:45, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

22:36, 24 February 2023 (UTC) - Falleen are not the only green and reptilian sentient species and, as stated above, there are too many visual differences to say in good confidence that this character belongs there. SorcererSupreme21 (talk) 22:52, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- While I still don't think it would be a stretch to assume they're a Falleen, you make a compelling argument and we should refrain from assuming until it is otherwise confirmed. - Thannus (DFaceG) (he/him) (talk) 02:31, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

- A little switchero argument to help you if you're still undecided: in the context of Star Wars, would you identify an human as such if they did not features visible outer ears (not accounting for hair hiding it) and/or had visible cranial ridges or similar exotic features? I think not. Another thought: the duck test should not be subjected to mental gymnastics: if when you give the test to something, you don't come up with a clear "yes", it should not be considered as passed. "No, but..." should never be the answer, in my opinion. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 14:46, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- A good example or your not-a-human is Nari. I had to revert several times when people kept calling him Human, when the forehead and chin ridges clearly show he is not. - JMAS

- Obi-Wan Kenobi has troubles depicting Pau'ans, so... won't be a stretch that's how their Falleens look. --Goodmind (talk) 15:06, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
