A while has passed since the creation of a baseline "Verified" role on Wookieepedia's Discord server—for known Fandom users to identify themselves regardless of their edit (or post) counts—and the results are solid! It's easier to meet newer users and help them out, and they don't get temporarily kicked off the server whenever the admins have to prune inactive public users.
Usually in every policy proposal I make, I try to give an indicator of anything else I might motion to change in the future, so nothing appears disjointed or excessive when I inevitably think of something else. Originally I worried that this particular motion would come too quickly after the one it's amending and seem reactionary, so it's a good thing I procrastinated!
After the Verified role was made, I realized some rather obvious changes that would benefit both the users with that role and everyone else on the server. Admins were ready to go ahead and make the changes when I suggested them a few months ago—seriously, these are total no-brainers—but I thought a vote would be best and might serve a few other ends.
- Solidarity! We can make a show about why the server is great to join for anyone who isn't already there.
- Good practice for active Discussions users since this vote would be subject to their participation. I have a few forum efforts that might pass through here in the next few months, especially as I've finally developed a way to index all of Discussions and keep a record of posts there.
- An anchor for the server in its current state, so everyone's up to speed on what it looks like for different access levels.
Policy change
- Grant access to #user-help, #admin-help, and #images-and-audio for Discord server members with the Verified role.
- The first two channels are simple: all Wookieepedia users should be part of the channel called "user help" (duh), and plenty of those users with fewer than 50 edits or 200 posts show up with policy questions for the administration or to report vandalism in good faith.
- Additionally, since a minimum 50 edits are required to upload images to the wiki, the server's image channel is a great middle ground for newer editors to learn about the image policy ahead of time and pass along quality images for more experienced editors to upload without delay. In the long run this can rally more help with finding images and audio files, as well as reduce mistakes made during uploads.
- Also grant image-sending permissions to the Verified role across the server. This should align the Verified role with the fully-verified Wookieepedians role for all permissions except specific channel access.
- Already this would be necessary for the #images-and-audio channel if the above provisions are approved, but it's easier to make even across the board.
- For anyone concerned about this permission possibly being abused, there are less than fifty Wookieepedia users on the whole server who hold only the Verified role. The Discussions forum sees way more users, all of whom can include images in posts regardless of their edit or post count, and we almost never receive image spam there.
- See the bottom section on this page for how this revision would look on the Discord policy page. I have reformatted the existing table for better readability and made a few factual corrections in addition to adding the above proposed changes.

The current server structure description on the Discord policy page is pretty long and getting hard to read. Below is an alternative that I think is better split up, complete with the proposed revisions as described above.
