The result of the debate was support all proposals. Cade
Okay, so following up Forum:CT:Disambiguation titles, we have some news. Fandom can create the new namespace for us, but due to a variety of reasons, they are unable to mark it as non-content, so moving disambiguation pages to a new namespace will not affect the page count on Special:Statistics.
HOWEVER, I have worked some dark JavaScript magic (with Fandom approval) that will let us manipulate the page count that is displayed at the top of every page. Thus, we come before you all today with a number of proposals based on this new information:
- A redo of the namespace/parenthetical vote, as the previous vote was predicated on the idea that it would move them entirely out of the content page count. As this is a unique scenario where the previous vote was based on faulty information, we also have a vote on whether or not we want to bypass the standard consensus rules about overturning previous decisions.
- Whether or not to implement the JavaScript to change the page count to remove all disambiguation pages (namespace or not) from the sitewide page count.
- Whether or not to implement the JavaScript to remove all Index pages from the count as well.

Vote #1: To Redo Or Not To Redo
As the previous vote in Forum:CT:Disambiguation titles was based on faulty information, but it was less than 2 years ago, this is a vote on whether to bypass the previous vote due to the faulty premise, and allow us to vote on namespace/parenthetical again. Please note that if this vote fails to pass, vote #2 will be null, but we will move forward with the original vote's result of a separate namespace.
Support
- Kind of a formality/technicality, but we thought it best to be clear. Cade

Vote #2: The Illusion of Choice Meme But Leading to Consistency
A simple majority vote on whether to move all disambiguation pages to a separate namespace, or to move them all to (disambiguation). The appropriate wording from the previous CT will then be added to the Naming policy. Note: this is not a vote on whether or not we standardize all disambiguation pages by moving disambiguation pages without (disambiguation) in their title; that vote was passed in the prior CT and remains unaffected by the new information. Whichever option wins in this vote (or if vote #1 fails), we will be moving the pages accordingly.
Separate namespace
- Even with the technical limitations, I personally still prefer them as a separate namespace, because as Imp has said, parenthetical descriptors are to be avoided if possible. Cade

- Parentheticals are just so ugly. Master Fredcerique
(talk) (he/him) 05:18, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- Imo I don't see much difference between the two options, but I marginally prefer a separate namespace. Tommy-Macaroni (he/they) 08:46, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- There's not really any scenario that I want disambigs coming up in the link suggestions where they can potentially lead to mislinking with a misclick or if a user is unfamilair with the concept. Ayrehead02 (talk) 12:05, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
(disambiguation) parenthetical
- Even though I'm being quoted on the other voting option. :P I do agree that we should be avoiding parentheses for articles but I find no problem with them being used with disambig pages; makes it simpler than a separate namespace imo. Imperators II(Talk) 07:14, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- If the page count isn't a deciding factor then I do prefer this, it's less complex (and more consistent with other sites, which I know isn't necessarily a requirement, but still.) Zed42

13:13, 6 October 2024 (UTC) - This is simpler, makes disambiguation pages easier to search for, and is consistent with other wikis. CometSmudge (talk) 16:50, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

- This is different from the previous vote, but we will choose the one that is less likely to affect the Interwiki. Also, the namespace move will not actually change the convenience of the search suggestions, since we need to provide a redirection of the main space on all pages.あざした (talk) 23:25, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

Vote #3: Remove Disambiguation Pages from Page Count
Support
- A vote for dark magic is a vote for peace! Cade
Calrayn 01:30, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- We've generally viewed the page count as an "article" count, and that's what it used to be called. Disambiguations are not articles and are purely for navigation. Thus they shouldn't be counted. Master Fredcerique

Vote #4: Remove Indexes from Page Count
Support
- Indexes, like disambiguation pages, are also not content pages, and thus they should also be excluded from our page count. Cade
Calrayn 01:30, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- Similar but slightly different to disambigs, but I view indexes as content, but content that is attached to a parent article and is thus more like a subpage rather than its own entry, and thus shouldn't be counted as a separate article. Master Fredcerique
