The result of the debate was Rename to The Dark Woman.
Fairly straightforward vote, so skipping the SH for this one. An'ya Kuro is a Jedi Master from Legends who is usually referred to as Dark Woman. The thirteenth issue of Star Wars: Republic, after observing the Dark Woman train the Padawan A'Sharad Hett, Council member Even Piell comments on her saying:
- "The ways of her teaching are brutal—and disturbing! No wonder she is called the Dark Woman behind her back!"
- ―Even Piell
Piell's comment suggests that Dark Woman is just a derogatory nickname given to her by others as an insult. However, in Jedi: Aayla Secura, she has the following interaction with Jedi Master Tholme:
- "An'ya Kuro. Are you alive?"
"Don't call me that, Tholme. Nobody calls me that anymore."
"You were An'ya Kuro when we were learners together. To be honest, I have never really understood this 'Dark Woman' thing."
"A Jedi should have no possessions. Not even an identity. I gave mine up to show humility before the Force."
"Instead you allowed them to call you 'The Dark Woman.' Such an improvement!" - ―Tholme and An'ya Kuro
In the conversation, she asks Tholme to not use the name An'ya Kuro to refer to her. On top of that, the conversation indicates that Dark Woman was a name she chose herself. While Dark Woman does sound like an alias, it seems to be the closest thing to what she would consider to be her real name. Additionally, it does feel kinda wrong to have her article at the name that she explicitly does not want to be referred to as, and also keep using the name to refer to her throughout the whole article. Therefore, I'm proposing to move her page to "The Dark Woman" and make "An'ya Kuro" a redirect. Sanathestarr (talk) 23:32, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

02:09, 1 July 2024 (UTC) - Since she says "I gave mine up to show humility before the Force." in reference to her name and identity I suppose this is the most correct title Fan26 (Talk) 02:24, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

- Based on everything I've read about her, "Dark Woman" or "The Dark Woman" seems more appropriate then "An'ya Kuro". While neither is her "true" identity, the name she begrudgingly allows should definitely take priority over the one she explicitly rejects. JM1998 (talk) 15:45, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Keep as An'ya Kuro
Much clearer name and I want to vote for the option that no one is voting for so that there is at least one person in opposition even though I sort of do support renaming the page.Drour1234 (talk) 01:17, 1 July 2024 (UTC)(Vote struck under WP:POINT CadeCalrayn 04:05, 1 July 2024 (UTC))
"Dark Woman" sounds very racist as a name. And I prefer real names over aliases. SeanWheeler (talk) 18:29, 7 July 2024 (UTC)(Vote struck, reason: Per policy: Insufficient vote count (General rule 3) -- OOM 224 (he/him/they) 20:45, 7 July 2024 (UTC))

I think it needs to be The Dark Woman though, including The. Tholme clearly says, 'Instead you allow them to call you "The Dark Woman."' And the quotes are actually used as shown, so I feel the is part of the name. There is precedent. Qimir was moved to The Stranger not Stranger. - JMAS

- Good point, changing it Sanathestarr (talk) 00:06, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Based on the quotes, it seems like she did not want to have a name, but allowed people to call her what they wanted to call her and the name “The Dark Woman” stuck. Thus, perhaps the page could be called The Dark Woman yet state at the beginning that even that wasn’t her identity since that is just what most people called her.Drour1234 (talk) 01:18, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
