Per the feedback within the Senate Hall discussion; 'Wookieepedia's sound file policy - what are the thoughts on updating it?', I am proposing a few motions primarily concerning sound files on Wookieepedia and the corresponding policy for files on Wookieepedia—the proposals for voting are:

  1. — Expand the scope of audio coding formats (this can just be referred to as an 'audio file format' for simplicity) that are allowed to be uploaded onto Wookieepedia and embedded within articles, beyond the currently allowed Ogg Vorbis audio file format, adhering to Fandom's own file format eligibility list for audio files. These specifically include; the MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGA and Opus audio file formats. Also, remove the bitrate limit (currently defined to a maximum of 64kbps/s) for audio files uploaded onto Wookieepedia, due to it being an antiquated value in comparison to the commonly utilised standards for audio file formats in the present day.
  2. — Alter and augment the sound file policy accordingly to reflect the changes per the first proposal, therefore providing further information/details concerning uploading audio files on Wookieepedia. Resulting in more specific and pinpoint guidance for Wookieepedians. The precise wording and phrasing of these changes are listed below for voting.
  3. — Retitle the Wookieepedia:Images policy page to "Wookieepedia:Files" to better reflect the actual contents of the article (it does not currently, with a sound policy within the image policy) and also clarify instances in the policy where images are solely mentioned (when these sections of the policy would apply to all files) with the word "files" (for instance, the beginning of this sentence under the 'Quality' section and the latter portion of this sentence under the 'File descriptions' section, along with other such cases on the page), to concisely present all policy-pertinent information concerning files on Wookieepedia within one article. Under the 'File formats' section, replace point four's sentence: "Always use Ogg Vorbis for audio. The preferred maximum fidelity for fair use audio is 64kbps stereo." with this sentence, "Audio file formats may include MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGA, Ogg Vorbis, and Opus."

2b. Alter and augment the sound file policy on Wookieepedia - Technical notes

Under the 'Technical notes' section, replace point four's sentence: "Do not simply rename MP3, WAV, or other audio file formats to OGG as they will not play." with this sentence, "Whenever possible, retain the original file format instead of converting it to another format. If an original audio file cannot be uploaded to Wookieepedia due to its format, it may be preferable to convert it to the lossless FLAC format."
