Fireworm

Fireworms were a type of creature that existed in the galaxy.^[1] In 9 ABY,^[2] the human Hunter^[3] Sentinel did an interview^[1] for the sporting competitive show Hunters of the Outer Rim^[4] and told stories of his Imperial service as a stormtrooper. In his reminisce, Sentinel claimed to have beaten a Fireworm during his deployment on a lava planet—although he was unsure if it was Senna or Mustafar—by shoving a Permafrost crystal in the creature's maw.^[1] Another competitor of the show,^[4] Imara Vex, later came to the interview and debunked Sentinel's stories.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Fireworm was introduced in the current Star Wars canon via a mention in the video game Star Wars: Hunters, which was developed by NaturalMotion's BossAlien^[4] and initially published by Zynga on November 16, 2021, as a soft launch^[5] before the global release on June 4, 2024.^[6] The game was later shut down on October 1, 2025.^[7] The mention of the creature was included in a quote as part of the "Sentinel Mastery II" questline.^[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, fireworms first appeared in the 1994 novel Jedi Search written by Kevin J. Anderson.^[8] The creature was later depicted in the 1996 West End Games sourcebook The Jedi Academy Sourcebook for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.^[9]
