Publisher's summary
Rey's life is turned upside down when she meets a little droid named BB-8.
Plot summary
Rey lives on the planet Jakku. She spends her days scavenging the Starship graveyard looking for items to trade at Unkar Plutt's Concession Stand for food. She then returns to her home in the Goazon Badlands.
One night, while eating dinner, Rey heard a strange beeping noise coming from outside. Rey then ran outside to investigate the sound, discovering it was a droid who had become trapped under the net of Teedo. She convinced Teedo to leave the droid alone and freed him from the net. The droid introduced himself as BB-8 though he declined to tell Rey why he was on Jakku - claiming it was a secret. Rey then tried to leave BB-8 behind, though she quickly gave in to BB-8's protests and agreed to let the droid stay with her for the night.
The next day, Rey took BB-8 into town with her to trade for food. At the Concession Stand, Plutt offered to trade a large amount of food in exchange for BB-8. Rey briefly contemplated this but ultimately declined the offer, despite Plutt's anger. She then left the stand with her new friend in tow.
