Poreni was the chief supervisor at the Akiva production plant that produced B1-series battle droids and BX-series droid commandos for the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, in which the Galactic Republic fought against the Confederacy. During the war they oversaw the construction of batch 4652-A, a batch of B1-series battle droids which performed poorly against Galactic Republic forces in the Hakara system.

Biography

During the Clone Wars, a galactic conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems^[1] that took place from 22 BBY to 19 BBY,^[2] Poreni was the chief supervisor for the Confederacy's droid factory on the Outer Rim planet Akiva which produced B1-series battle droids and BX-series droid commandos.^[1] Early during the war,^[3] Poreni sent a message to General Grievous, the Supreme Commander of the Confederacy's Droid Army, announcing the completion of a batch of B1-series battle droids and its deployment to the Hakara system a head of schedule.^[1]

Poreni later received a reply from C-5DS, a droid in service to the General, in which they learned that the batch's combat performance had proved insufficient, with less than five percent of the twenty-six thousand battle droids deployed against Galactic Republic forces having survived the engagement. C-5DS concluded the message by stating that they would need an update from Poreni about the performance issue before they would schedule another order. In response, Poreni apologized for the poor performance and offered a twenty percent discount on the next batch of B1 battle droids as well as a promise to improve the droid's future performance. In the following message, C-5DS accepted the discount and went on to make an advance order of twelve thousand BX-series droid commandos, following the promising preliminary tests of the BX-series.

Copies of at least four of these transmissions between C-5DS and Poreni were captured by equipment which remained in orbit over Akiva through the end of the war—which saw the collapse of the Separatist Alliance and the abandonment of the Akiva factory—and into the reign of the Republic's successor, the Galactic Empire.^[1]

In 3 ABY,^[4] the scoundrel Kay Vess recovered four of transmissions stored in orbit of Akiva. Later that year,^[4] Vess's companion, the BX-series droid ND-5, was able to use the recovered messages between C-5DS and Poren along with several other Clone Wars–era transmissions to track down a Separatist base on Akiva.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Poreni's voice appeared in four collectible transmissions in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. The four collectible transmissions, titled "CIS 01" through "CIS 04", were part of the "Separatist Transmissions" expert intel quest which eventually leads the player to MT-7, another BX-series droid and one of nine experts who the player can complete quests for in order to gain various abilities.^[1]
