"You weren't lucky enough, lowlife! Gimme that droid and you can die painlessly!"
―The thief, to the Ronin[1]

A human was the leader of a group of twenty thieves who attempted to steal the astromech droid R5-D56 from the former Sith known as the Ronin. After threatening the Ronin and warning their people not to hit the droid, they ordered the thieves to open fire on him. The Ronin deflected their blaster bolts with his lightsaber, killing several, but the leader ordered his people to continue shooting, claiming not to be afraid. When R5-D56 fired rockets at the thieves, the leader attempted to flee, but they and all but one of the remaining thieves were killed.

"Okay! So you think you're tough? Can't you see all my people here? Guys! Do not hit the droid! Get him!"

The thief threatens the Ronin.

A human was the leader of a group of twenty thieves associated with a casino located on[1] Mount Hakamori,[2] a snowy mountain on an astronomical object. At one point,[1] the former Sith[3] known as the Ronin and his astromech droid[1] R5-D56[3] crossed over a deep gap in the mountain by using the leg of a fallen All Terrain Armored Transport as a bridge. The thieves blocked the Ronin's path on both sides of the leg, and the leader called out to the Ronin, telling him that if he gave up his droid, he could die painlessly. When the Ronin did not respond, the leader called out to threaten the Ronin again. They then warned their people not to hit the droid and ordered them to attack.[1]

The thieves opened fire with their blasters, and the Ronin drew his lightsaber and deflected the blaster bolts, killing several of them. The leader ordered their people to continue shooting, claiming they were not afraid of a Sith. When one blaster bolt struck R5-D56's hat, the leader reprimanded the thief who had shot it, reminding them not to hit the droid. R5-D56 then readied several weapons, causing the leader to look at him with confusion while the other thieves fled. The droid then fired rockets at the thieves, and the leader turned to run and screamed. Despite their attempts to flee, the leader and all but one of the remaining thieves were killed.[1]

The Ronin later met the Jedi known as Shogun—who had witnessed the beginning of the encounter—while bathing in a hot spring. Shogun informed the Ronin they had heard of the deaths of the thieves and that the casino was closed because of the incident.[1]

Personality and traits

"H-Hey, keep shooting! We're not afraid of a Sith!"
―The thief[1]

The human thief had light skin and was missing multiple teeth. Their right arm had a tattoo of a creature with claws and pointed teeth. The thief threatened the Ronin and intended to both kill and rob him. Upon seeing his lightsaber, they claimed to not be afraid of a Sith.[1]

Equipment

The thief wore a helmet that exposed their face and armor tied around their chest and arms. They also wielded a blaster. They wore a tag around their neck and had a similar one stuck to their helmet, both of which had a circular symbol and the letters "aku" written in the Aurebesh script.[1]

Behind the scenes

The thief leader appeared in the non-canon comic Visions 1, written and illustrated by Takashi Okazaki and published by Marvel Comics[1] on October 12, 2022. Prior to the comic's release, they were depicted in a preview of the comic posted on StarWars.com on October 6 of that year.[4]
