- "Silvo has escaped from the brig! Search every stall, search every booth! Leave no stone unturned!"
- ―Beef rallying pirates to search for Silvo after his escape
Beef was a humanoid pirate active during the New Republic Era. A member of a pirate crew, he originally served under Captain Silvo until a mutiny ousted him in favor of Brutus. When Silvo escaped from his brig at Starport Borgo, Beef rallied pirates to search for the runaway and was later involved in the pursuit of him, resulting in Silvo being apprehended on the planet Lanupa. After Silvo gunned Brutus down to regain his position as captain, Beef took part in the Invasion of At Attin, rounding up the citizens to work for the pirates. The invasion, however, proved unsuccessful when a New Republic squadron arrived to the rescue.
Biography
Beef on Lanupa.
The humanoid pirate Beef was a member of the crew led by Captain Silvo during the New Republic Era.[3] Around 9 ABY,[4] the crew attacked a merchant freighter, capturing the ship as its merchant crew attempted fight off the pirates. Beef was with the rest of the crew when they breached the magnetically sealed vault of the freighter. After the vault was opened and the pirates realized that it was empty, Beef participated in the mutiny against their captain Silvo for leading them to an empty vault.[3]
Somme time later, Beef was on Borgo Prime after Silvo, Wim, Neel, KB and Fern escaped from the brig.[2] He[1] proceeded to rally his fellow pirates to search the port for Silvo, announcing it was official business of captain Brutus.[2]
Later, Beef saw as Brutus was about to execute Silvo. The former captain convinced his former crew that he could lead them to At Attin's treasure. Soon after, Silvo killed Brutus to retake his place of captain.[5]
Behind the scenes
Beef first appeared in the 2024 Disney+ live-action television series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, played by Dominic Burgess.[3] The character's design was conceptualized by[6] the heads of the series' prosthetic makeup department,[3] Cristina Waltz and Alexei Dmitriew, and was inspired by the Star Wars character Doctor Cornelius Evazan. The character's four-piece silicone makeup and teeth and arm scarring were sculpted by Scott Stoddard, who also led the application process together with Mike Ornealez and support by Mike Mekash and Ian Goodwin. Beef's molds were crafted by Goodwin, Helen Snell and Jen Grable with the silicone appliances done by Crystal Gomez and a clay sculpt of his face was also done. Diana Hansen was responsible for the contact lenses and his mullet wig was designed and styled by Lane Friedman and built by Rob Pickens.[6]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition,
"A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well.
SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.

Cristina Waltz (@redwizard) on Instagram (post on November 10, 2025): "Next up from Skeleton Crew: Beef — what a character! 💥 This Borgo space pirate was inspired by (or perhaps a patient of 👀) the infamous Doctor Cornelius Evazan. Actor Dominic Burgess brought Beef to life on screen and was an absolute delight in the makeup chair. When Alexei and I began planning this design, we knew Scott Stoddard was the artist to make it happen. Scott masterfully sculpted a four-piece silicone makeup — complete with Beef's gnarly teeth and arm scarring — and led the application alongside Mike Ornealez, with support from Mike Mekash and Ian Goodwin throughout the season. Our contact lens tech was Diana Hansen. The molds were crafted by Ian Goodwin, Helen Snell, and Jen Grable, with all silicone appliances run by Crystal Gomez. All done in our workshop. Topping it all off — Beef's fantastic space mullet wig, designed and styled by Lane Friedman and built by Rob Pickens💫 #skeletoncrew #starwars #childrenfamilyemmys" (backup link) (screenshots 1, 2, 3, 4)
