Dybrin 12 was a Deep Core moon in the Dybrin system with an extremely hot climate and a poisonous, highly pressurized atmosphere. It was home to the sentient Dybrinthe species and a type of atmospheric glider, the latter of which could be modified into parasitic dybbuk silencers. The Dybrinthe bounty hunter Athgar Heece hailed from Dybrin 12.
Description
The moon Dybrin 12 was situated in the Deep Core[2] and the Interior[1] and was located in the Dybrin system. It lay in grid square L-12 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[3] Dybrin 12 shared its name with Dybrin, a planet[5] in the same star system.[3] In spite of its blisteringly hot climate and poisonous, highly pressurized atmosphere, it was home to living organisms, including the sentient Dybrinthe species[2] and a type of atmospheric glider.[4]
History
Athagar Heece hailed from Dybrin 12.
Using mobile refinery-cities, the Dybrinthe clans exploited the natural fuel that bubbled up from the moon's extensive subterranean oceans. Since most offworlders could not survive on Dybrin 12, visitors were usually confined to space stations orbiting the moon.[2] During the High Republic Era, the company Chiewab Pharmaceuticals modified Dybrin 12's atmospheric gliders into dybbuk silencers, a type of parasitic life form.[4]
The Dybrinthe bounty hunter Athgar Heece,[2] who was born around 0 ABY[6] and remained active by the time of the New Republic Era, was a native of Dybrin 12.[2] Dybrin 12 was mentioned in an artist's journal, which was restored, expanded, and displayed at the Graf Archive[7] at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.[8]
Behind the scenes
Dybrin 12 was first mentioned, albeit indirectly, in Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, a 2015 reference book written by Pablo Hidalgo.[9] The moon was first identified by name in the reference book Star Wars: Aliens of the Galaxy, which was written by Jason Fry[2] and released on August 23, 2016.[10] In the English edition of twenty-third issue of the Star Wars Helmet Collection magazine,[11] published on November 16, 2016[12] and written by Iain Lowson,[13] the homeworld of Athgar Heece was described as a planet instead of a moon.[11] This article assumes Aliens of the Galaxy, which directly refers to Dybrin 12, is correct.
