The Dor Nameth system was located in the Bright Jewel sector[3] of the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the New Territories.[2] It was situated in grid square L-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid and was connected[1] by the Celanon Spur hyperspace route[4] to the Bright Jewel and Numidian systems.[1] The Dor Nameth system was home to the sentient Dor Namethian species.[5][6]

Behind the scenes

The Dor Nameth system was first mentioned on a map[1] designed by Christopher Ibbitt[7] that was created for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and given out as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim[8] on May 27, 2022[9] prior to the book's release during Celebration Europe[10] of April 7 through 10, 2023.[11] It was then identified by name in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map article on StarWars.com[3] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.[12] The system was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity via a mention in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.[13]

This assumes that the name "Celanon Spur," as used in Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 48 Guide to the Galaxy: Visiting Ord Mantell, applies to the canon hyperspace route depicted on the map that matches the depiction of the Star Wars Legends route with the same name in The Essential Atlas per BlueskyLogo Jason Fry (@jasoncfry.bsky.social.) on Bluesky (post on January 3, 2025): "They are indeed the same. Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats the the Dor Nameth system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Dor Namethian species.
