Deej and their family in Bright Tree Village.

Deej was an Ewok male who lived in Bright Tree Village as part of the Bright Tree tribe on the Forest Moon of Endor.[1] The Ewok was an accomplished hang-glider pilot.[3] Deej and another Ewok were the parents to four children: Weechee,[1] Widdle Warrick,[4] Wicket Warrick, and Winda. At some point, Wicket helped his father dig borra pits.[1]

One winter[1] between 1 BBY and 4 ABY,[5] Deej and a hunting party left the village in order to obtain essential supplies. Weechee was able to convince his father to let him come with, which made Wicket, who was younger, jealous. Wicket was watching when Deej and the party came back with their spoils, which included a large kublag and brub berries. Later that day, Weechee told his young brother he felt he took after Deej, noting he was very strong.[1]

Shortly after the Battle of Endor[2] in 4 ABY,[6] some of the Bright Tree tribe, including Deej, held a gathering with the tribe's neighbors in Bright Tree Village to decide the forest's future. During the gathering, Deej spent time with their family.[2]

Personality and traits

Deej had gray[2]-brown fur.[3]

Equipment

On Endor, Deej donned hooded brown clothing,[3] and also at one point wore a purple cowl.[2] When Weechee and Wicket went hunting, Weechee wore one Deej's old cloaks. Deej wore snowshoes while traveling in the snow.[1]

Behind the scenes

Deej first appeared in the current Star Wars canon in "The Kroolok," a short story written by George Mann and Cavan Scott and published in the 2021 short story collection the Life Day Treasury.[1] The Ewok was first pictured in "Miscellaneous Ships and Vehicles (2)," a De Agostini Star Wars Encyclopedia book[3] published on July 29, 2022.[7] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Deej was introduced in the 1984 television film, Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure.[8] In Legends, his last name first was confirmed to be "Warrick," akin to his family name, in the StarWars.com Databank.[9]
