"The peace and quiet appeals to me. That's why I took the job."
"This appeals to you? This doesn't appeal to me, and I live here."

Cort was a human female who lived in a desert town on an astronomical object. During the Imperial Era, she hired Asajj Ventress, the former lead assassin of Count Dooku, to kick out uncompliant customers from her transport office. Their cooperation ended abruptly when Ventress stood up for Lyco Strata, a young Jedi escaping the Great Jedi Purge whom Cort had given away to a stormtrooper patrol in hopes of earning a substantial reward.

During the Imperial Era, a human[1] female[2] named Cort lived in a desert town on an astronomical object and worked as a clerk in a transport office. At some point,[1] she[2] employed Asajj Ventress, the former lead assassin of Count Dooku. While Ventress stood at the entrance scanning customers' cards, Cort sat at a nearby counter and served those that Ventress allowed to pass. Ventress also handled uncooperative customers, removing them from the office when necessary.[1]

One day, as office customers lined up for check-in, Ventress granted passage to a Rodian, who walked up to the counter. The individual attempted to persuade Cort to give[1] him[2] a ticket free-of-charge, insisting that he had no money. When she refused, the individual drew a blaster pistol, claiming he desperately needed to get out of town. Before he could fire a shot, Ventress disarmed the Rodian and tossed him out of the office. Meanwhile, Cort reminded Ventress that she paid[1] her[2] to remove people—not kill them—which she believed would make for a poor business strategy. She then praised Ventress for her skills and suggested they branch out and start a business of their own. Ventress, however, declined, admitting that she enjoyed the peaceful life her current job provided. After Ventress exited through the blast door, Cort muttered to herself that the peace and quiet did not appeal to her, as it did to Ventress, even though she was the one who lived there.[1]

The Lyco Strata incident

After Ventress left the establishment, Cort returned to the seat behind the counter and soon tended to a human[1] boy[2] named Lyco Strata.[3] Unbeknownst to the woman, the boy was a former member of the Jedi Order who had survived Order 66 and was en route to the Hidden Path, an underground network that sheltered Great Purge survivors from the Galactic Empire. When Lyco's credits proved insufficient to purchase a ticket, they attempted to mind-trick Cort into accepting the payment regardless. However, the woman remained immune to their machinations. Shortly afterward, Ventress re-entered and sided with her co-worker, escorting the boy to the door only to quickly shut it again upon spotting a stormtrooper group grouped gathered outside. Ventress pulled Lyco back in and instructed them take cover behind Cort's counter. Cort, in turn, asked whether the boy was in trouble, but the Dathomirian dismissed her concerned and told her to keep quiet. Once a total of five stormtroopers entered the office in the company of a Viper probe droid floating in the air, Cort was asked for her credential and started patting her pockets. Ventress, however, successfully used a mind trick to convince them that nothing was amiss and that no one had entered the building that day. She additionally redirected them to docking bay 24.[1]

As the patrol was about to leave, one of the stormtroopers reminded Ventress and Cort to report any suspicious activity, noting there was a substantial reward. In response, Cort suddenly told them to wait and revealed that Lyco was hiding behind the counter. In defense, Ventress and Lyco ignited their lightsabers and deflect the stormtroopers' blaster fire, killing the soldiers but sparing Cort, who had been cowering throughout the skirmish. When the dust settled, she opened her eyes to find the bodies of the troopers scattered across the office.[1]
