Coonee

Coonee was a planet in the Brevost sector of the Expansion Region.^[1] According to a theory from smuggler Tregga, the Wookiee Chewbacca raised an orphaned Han Solo after the end of the Clone Wars, and before being captured by the Galactic Empire on the planet Mimban they made their living on planets such as Coonee and Saberhing.^[2]

Tregga told the bartender Tivoche Bilure his theory who wrote it his journal. Bilure did not believe the theory since Tregga's implants were known to malfunction.^[2] Despite Tregga's theory, Han and Chewbacca first met on Mimban after they were captured by the Empire.^[3]

Behind the scenes

Coonee was first mentioned in the 2018 canon replica journal Solo: A Star Wars Story: Tales from Vandor, written by Jason Fry.^[2]

Coonee was originally created by George Lucas as part of Han Solo's backstory, but it was never incorporated into Solo's biography. According to Lucas, Han Solo went to the planet Coonee, and spent three years herding and transporting coldppedas throughout the universe. Lucas' notes on Han Solo's backstory were included in the 2007 reference book The Making of Star Wars: The Definitive Story Behind the Original Film by Jonathan W. Rinzler.^[4] Coonee was then introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Jason Fry.^[5]
